thx4urm0n3y wins Sunday Million

There was a three-way deal in this week’s Sunday Million, but the $168,000 taken by eventual winner thx4urm0n3y still seemed chunky.

As Jason Kirk reported, thx4urm0n3y took on the chip lead with about 35 players remaining and never looked like letting it go, or at least until a deal had already been done.

You can read that report in full here, and check out the result below.

Champions crowned in Bucharest

There were two festivals under full steam this weekend, spanning two continents.

The first to finish was in Bucharest, where Sam Grafton took the Main Event title and a first prize of €117,707 in the first event in the Romanian capital. After five days of play the nomadic Brit defeated Anil Ozdemir of Turkey heads up after a two-way deal, bringing the festival to a close.

Grafton was characteristically gracious after the event.

“I feel very proud,” Grafton said afterwards. “I’ve been playing PokerStars events for a long time, trying to win one for around six years. To finally win one feels amazing.

“Back then, I didn’t really realise what it takes to win a tournament, how rare it can be in your career. In the past, I didn’t value the runs I made, but now I know how difficult it is to win a live tournament. It feels amazing.”

The final report of the event by Jack Stanton is well worth a few minutes of your time. You can read that round-up here.

Meanwhile, is there a winner in Manila?

That left Manila, where the Festival fell short of a final nine as play finished on Sunday. That left a long day ahead today, which plays on as I write having reached the heads-up phase.

Antii Halme and Uday Bansal are facing off with the stacks 10m to 7m in Halme’s favour. But that’s rarely the end of the story.

Brad Kain has been filing reports from the Manila tournament floor, which you can read here. As you catch up on those keep in mind an interesting side note. Brad’s flight leaves at 3am. If the heads-up is a long one, he might have to get creative.

Follow the action from Manila.

That’s all from the weekend, even if it hasn’t technically finished. If we missed anything email us at blog@pokerstars.com, or tweet us @PokerStarsBlog.
