On Friday, October 25, 2024, ‘Zherminal’ took down the $1M Spin & Go prize.

We can only imagine how it must feel to check the lottery numbers and watch each digit line up perfectly on your ticket, like stars falling into place in a midnight sky. Against all the absurd odds, your life has been altered in a matter of moments.

Spinning a Spin & Go jackpot is poker’s equivalent. Hundreds of thousands of players take their shot, praying the spinner lands on the $1 million so they get their shot at seven figures. Even if they don’t win the three-handed game, $80,000 is guaranteed to be added to their account.

The odds of it happening? 1 in 10,000,000

In Spin & Go history, just 135 PokerStars players know that feeling. Moreover, just 45 players know what it’s like to go from $5 to $1 million in minutes.

The newest addition to that elusive club joined on Friday, October 25, when a Belarus-based player known as “Zherminal” not only hit the 240,000x multiplier but won it to become a millionaire.

And going by the final hand, Zherminal’s win was written in the stars.

HOW IT WENT DOWN

The three players – Zherminal, “derom01” and “mari_farah15” – began to play safe in the knowledge that they’d already locked up $80,000. There was a $40,000 pay jump between third and second, but with the fast-paced nature of Spin & Go’s, there’s no time to wait around hoping for hands.

The blinds escalated quickly and mari_farah15 was the first to fall, leaving the others to battle for an astonishing and nauseating $880,000 heads-up difference.

As stacks got shorter it was just a matter of time before stacks went in. derom01 was all-in with 10♠ 7♣ against Zherminal’s 4♥ 3♦ . But the flop came A♣ 2♣ 5♣ giving Zherminal a straight.

It wasn’t over, though, as derom01 could lock up the pot if a club hit on the turn or river to complete their flush draw. But it wasn’t to be as the 2♦ turn and 5♠ river changed nothing.

With that, derom01 banked a still-incredible $120,000 for a few minutes work, while Zherminal became the 45th PokerStars Spin & Go millionaire. That’s an astonishing return on investment of nearly 20,000,000%.

ABOUT SPIN & GO’S

Spin & Go tournaments on PokerStars add an unpredictable twist to the traditional sit-and-go format. Played as quick, three-handed matches with starting stacks of 500 chips, the games feature a spinning prize wheel at the table’s centre, determining the prize pool before play begins.

This element of chance can lead to jackpot levels as high as $1.2 million, while the fast-paced blind structure keeps the action brisk, with most games wrapping up within minutes.

This Spin & Go milestone comes hot on the heels of another major event: the inaugural PokerStars Spin & Go Championship, a special live tournament scheduled for December at EPT Prague.

This tournament will see 81 Spin & Go players and influencers – including online qualifiers – compete in the heart of the Czech capital. With a $25,000 grand prize and a total prize pool of $100,000, the event introduces mystery prizes in early rounds and has $50,000 set aside for the top three finalists.

The final online qualification window closes on November 17, so get playing if you want a chance to get in on the action.
