The UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) visited Nottingham last week for a five-day poker extravaganza. There were Main Events, High Rollers, Super High Rollers, side events, and PokerStars activities galore.

If you couldn’t make it this time around but hope to visit a UKIPT stop in the future, you’re in luck. The UKIPT heads to London in October 2022, running from the 18th to the 22nd.

But what’s the UKIPT experience really like?

This week, we can live vicariously through PokerStars Team Pro Mason “pyefacepoker” Pye as the Twitch streamer documented his entire trip exclusively for the Twitch Poker Tribune.

Here we go.

They say that poker and life often go hand in hand. That was certainly true for Pye as he was forced to utilise his bluffing skills at the train station after delays meant his ticket was no longer valid.

Luckily, the bluff got through.

After meeting up with his fellow PokerStars Team Pro, Georgina “GJReggie” James (who’s currently undertaking a fitness challenge), Pye gave us a tour of his Nottingham hotel room.

Then it was time for dinner and a few games of pool.

The following day, Pye jumped into the ÂŁ230 Mini UKIPT at Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn, which boasted a ÂŁ100K guarantee.

But after running queens into aces, his first bullet turned to dust.

Here, Pye catches up with the PokerStars information desk–run by the legendary Willie and Raksha–to show us what’s available for UKIPT players.

All UKIPT players got exclusive UKIPT patches, pins and card protectors.
All UKIPT Main Event players got exclusive T-shirts celebrating the event.
All online qualifiers to the Main Event got all of the above, plus a UKIPT hoodie, lanyard and a drawstring bag.

There were also baseball caps on offer via various giveaways at the activities.

Unfortunately, Pye’s second bullet in the Mini didn’t go well either.

But there’s nothing that a commiseration desert can’t fix.

The ÂŁ1,100 UKIPT Main Event (ÂŁ500K Gtd) was up next and who should Pye find at his table?

Only high stakes crusher Andy “BowieEffect” Wilson.

If Wilson looks like he’s on cloud nine, that’s because he finished in first place in the UKIPT Nottingham Pub Quiz, which Pye and GJReggie organised.

Wilson’s winning team–also featuring Angus Foster and Oli Hutchins–then got to compete in a bonus sit & go thanks to their success. Wilson took that down too, earning himself a regional tour Main Event seat.

1 Andy Wilson – Regional tour Main Event seat
2 Angus Foster – €400/£340 Road to PSPC seat
3 Oli Hutchins – €33 Road to PSPC satellite ticket
4 Peter Santamaria-Woods – €33 Road to PSPC satellite ticket
5 Dode Elliot – €33 Road to PSPC satellite ticket
6 Nikolay Ponomarev – €33 Road to PSPC satellite ticket

But Wilson wasn’t the only familiar face that Pye battled.

Both Pye and Spraggy made it through the day, albeit with short stacks.

They’d both make the money too, with Pye finishing in 85th for ÂŁ1,690 and Spraggy falling in 70th for ÂŁ1,940.

With the poker officially over for the trip, it was time to relax and take in the comedy stylings of one Joe Stapleton. The PokerStars commentator and stand-up comedian was in town for a warm-up show before heading to his run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

And with that, it was time to head home.

The wallet a little lighter. The head a little achier.

Cheers Pye. Until next time.
