When Ramon Colillas became the champion of the inaugural PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) and won $5.1 million back in 2019, he immediately became the ultimate hero for the Spanish poker community.

Colillas – a former personal trainer turned poker pro, and Platinum Pass winner – had made his dream come true. In doing so, he also opened the door so that all Spanish players could dare to dream.

And dream they did. By the time all 400 Platinum Passes had been given out for the 2023 edition of the PSPC, it was Spain that held more than any other country – by far.

All of them wanted to become the next Ramon Colillas, and the community hoped to see another Spaniard lift the trophy (or, as it’s known amongst the Spanish poker community, “the mother of all spades”).

The hype surrounding the event was unbelievable. This was truly a unique, unrepeatable experience… and we’re fortunate it was all captured on film.

That footage has now been turned into a documentary to relive the excitement again.

The film tells the story of the Spaniards at the PSPC – from the moment they arrive in the Bahamas, to all Spanish Platinum Pass winners entering the tournament room in unison, chanting “Let’s go get them!” – and follows their progress throughout the event.

Give it a watch!
