There are many aspects to poker, one being making the most one’s bankroll. It’s important to pay attention to it and work within its limits while growing it and moving up in stakes.

The vast majority of players start with a small bankroll and grind it up through cash games and small tournament wins. And tournaments can be the best way to boost a bankroll, especially with the availability of satellites. Players can use a satellite or qualifier event to win a seat into a major tournament by using only a few dollars or Frequent Player Points. With that small investment, anyone can play the larger tournaments, and some skillful play – along with the right amount of rungood – can score a major tournament cash or victory and catapult that bankroll into new territory.

One of the great things about the weekly $55 Women’s Sunday tournament is the number of satellite opportunities available. There are daily satellites in the amounts of $11, $5.50, and $2.20 + rebuys, and Saturday brings a freeroll + $1 rebuy event. In addition, there are numerous opportunities each weekend, many of them on Sunday prior to the Women’s Sunday. Ranging from $.50 hyper turbo qualifiers into larger satellites to 500 FPP buy-in qualifiers, there are numerous ways to win seats every week.

Every week, more opportunities … all with seats for the $7K guarantee on Sundays.

Speaking of the Women’s Sunday, the final numbers are:

Total players: 169
Prize pool: $8,450.00
Paid finishers: 27

One of the players who caught the attention of the others was Friend of PokerStars Charlotte “Sjlot” Brabander of Belgium. Though she sat out for the majority of the tournament, she did boast of a $50 bounty. She ended up eliminated in 60th place with another player winning $50 for the bustout.

Play moved on past the two-hour mark, and the final 27 players were in the money, with ladysandri the first to cash for $84.50. (She won her entry in today’s Last $11 Qualifier; not a bad profit!)

A half hour later, only two tables remained, and players were guaranteed a minimum payout of $105.62. Soon after, last week’s champion – Rapuncel<3 – exited in 14th place, followed by fatbillyfry, who won a seat via a $11.22 hyper turbo qualifier earlier today. After joynata (winner of a seat through a Last Chance $5.50 turbo qualifier) left in 11th place, hand-for-hand play went into effect.

FinancialPOK made the all-in move preflop from the small blind with J♦ 4♥ , but yaliel called from the big blind for 20,349 more with Q♦ Q♣ . The board of K♦ 5â™  A♦ 4â™  5♣ brought too little too late for FinancialPOK, a two-time Women’s Sunday final tablist who had to settle for $147.87 for tenth place today.

Yaliel enters final with sizeable lead

The final table was set earlier than usual, as blinds were 1,000/2,000 with a 200 ante in Level 15. Initial chip counts were listed as follows:

Seat 2: Vaylinor (57,768 in chips)
Seat 3: yaliel (121,680 in chips)
Seat 4: valkiria63 (21,983 in chips)
Seat 5: Teresita82 (37,058 in chips)
Seat 6: Olga868 (64,152 in chips)

Play got off to a somewhat slow start, as the competitors chose to spend time getting a feel for their opponents without making any drastic moves.

Eventually, players began to make moves. E.v.a.81975 doubled through Karinka1006 to climb the leaderboard, and valkiria63 doubled through luckyno75 to stay in the game.

JACQUEV1 tried her own move, pushing all-in for little less than 23K with A♦ Kâ™  from the small blind. But original raiser e.v.a.81975 called with 5♦ 5♥ . That pocket pair held up to the 6â™  4♦ 10â™  J♦ 10♦ board to give e.v.a.81975 the pot. JACQUEV1 – who finished last week in second place, took ninth this week for $169.00 in consecutive final tables.

Soon after, Vaylinor made her move from the small blind with 8♥ 7♥ , and yaliel called from the big blind with A♦ 10♦ . The flop of 6♦ 3♣ 4♠ looked promising for a double-up, but the 3♠ turn and 4♥ river left the ace to play as the kicker. Vaylinor exited in eighth place with $253.50.

Next at risk was Karinka1006, who pushed with A♣ K♦ . But e.v.a.81975 woke up with A♥ A♠ and reraised to isolate. It worked, and the aces held up to the K♥ 4♣ 10♥ Q♣ 6♦ board. Karinka1006 left in seventh place with $338.00.

Double-doubles create yo-yo leaderboard

The double-up action got crazy over the course of a few rounds, and these were the ones that we tracked: Valkiria63 doubled through Teresita82 and then luckyno75. Teresita82 then doubled through valkiria63 and luckyno75. Olga868 did it through Teresita82, as did luckyno75.

Two hands later, Teresita82 had to move. Her 12,369 chips went all-in from the small blind with A♣ 7♦ , and original raiser e.v.a.81975 called with Q♣ J♦ . The board of 8♣ 2♦ 4â™  K♦ Qâ™  brought that queen on the river for e.v.a.81975’s pair. Teresita82 – winner of the June 19 Women’s Sunday – finished today in sixth place with $422.50.

Olga868 called a raise from yaliel that put her all-in. Olga868 showed 9♠ 9♥ for her tournament life, and yaliel turned over 10♣ 10♦ . Nothing about the 6♦ A♦ J♦ 2♣ A♠ changed the outcome, and Olga868 left in fifth place with $507.00.

Former final table players take over

Luckyno75 achieved a double-up through yaliel to take over the top spot on the leaderboard:

Former chip leader yaliel was reduced to a short stack and risked those last chips with 7♥ 6♣ . E.v.a.81975 was along for the ride with 7♣ 3♦ and hit trips on the 3♣ 10♥ K♣ 3♠ 8♣ board. That left yaliel out in fourth place with $739.37.

Valkiria63 managed a double through luckyno75 but needed to go for it again. Valkiria63 pushed with A♠ 7♠ , and e.v.a.81975 called with Q♠ 2♣ . The board of 3♦ Q♣ 3♥ Q♦ Q♥ gave valkiria63 a full house but quad queens for e.v.a.81975. Ouch. Valkiria63 departed in third place with $992.87.

Can e.v.a.81975 pick up a second win?

The heads-up battle began with these counts:

Seat 1: e.v.a.81975 (161,494 in chips)
Seat 8: luckyno75 (345,506 in chips)

But on the second hand, e.v.a.81975 found an opportunity to seize the lead.

Six hands later, luckyno75 attempted the same. The hand began with a raise and call to see the Q♣ A♥ K♣ flop. E.v.a.81975 bet, luckyno75 raised all-in with A♣ J♣ for top pair and the flush and straight draws. E.v.a.81975 called and showed Kâ™  10♥ for the straight draw and got there on the Jâ™  turn. The 3♣ river ended the tournament with a second place finish for luckyno75, who took sixth in the May 22 Women’s Sunday. Today’s finish was worth $1,309.75.

And the Women’s Sunday found its first repeat champion! Just two weeks after her first victory, Spain’s e.v.a.81975 grabbed her second title and $1,816.79 to go with it. Congratulations!
