Parker “Tonkaaaa” Talbot has provided us with plenty of sage advice throughout his time as a PokerStars Team Pro — from how to play Day 1 of a big live event to breaking down a deep run in a vlog from the Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT) Barcelona Main Event.
The Canadian crusher is currently battling in the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) but took time out of his busy schedule to drop some more wisdom on us.
Here are Talbot’s five (OK, six) tips to survive a series like SCOOP.
TONKAAAA’S SCOOP TIPS
1. HAVE A ROUTINE
“I struggle to follow this myself, but having some kind of routine every day helps get your session off on the right track.”
2. BE CONSISTENT
“Just showing up is important. Playing is the number one step towards winnings, so show up and give it your all.”

3. BANKROLL MANAGEMENT
“Always play within your bankroll and never chase losses by punting big buy-in events.”
4. TRY NOT TO TILT
“Take your bad beats in stride and understand that tournament poker is mostly losing. It happens to everyone.”
5. PLAY YOUR GAME
“Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Just play your game the best you can.”
