PokerStars is making changes to its rake system in certain game types and buy-in levels. Here we’ll explain what’s changing and why.

.COM

PokerStars is changing the amount of rake paid in micro-stakes cash games, effective from April 2, 2024.

In No Limit and Pot Limit cash games (excluding Omaha and Zoom), the rake percentage at stakes of:

  • $0.01/$0.02 will increase from 3.5% to 5%
  • $0.02/$0.05 will increase from 4.15% to 5%
  • $0.05/$0.10 will increase from 4.5% to 5%

Additionally, at these stakes, the rake cap for all hands will be set to $1. This adjustment applies exclusively to these stakes and does not impact other levels.

The rake in Kick-Off tournaments will increase from 10% to 12%.

The rake in Multi-Table Sit & Go’s and Heads-Up Sit & Go’s will remain unchanged.

However, the rake in micro, low, and medium stakes Single-Table Sit & Go’s will increase as follows:

PokerStars players from eligible markets will continue to receive a $0.50 Power Path Step 1 ticket every day they play, regardless of how much they pay in rake. The majority of players playing in the impacted micro stakes ring games rake less than $0.50 per day, so the value players receive in return remains higher.

We understand that rake increases – however small – are never welcomed. The decision was not made lightly, but will help us continue to improve our offering, attract new players and bring former players back into the world of PokerStars with opportunities to turn Power Path tickets into incredible experiences at live events or entry to the biggest online tournaments.

PokerStars has not made many rake adjustments over the past eight years and despite the change, the rake level remains competitive at micro stakes across the online poker industry.

.FR / .ES

On April 2nd, PokerStars will increase the rake on Kick Off from 10% to 12% on .FR and .ES.

These are the only changes which apply to .FR and .ES.
