LAPT Playa Conchal: Level 23 and 24 updates

Updates from level 21 and 22 of LAPT Playa Conchal, brought to you by Brad Willis and Change100.

2:49pm–Couresty double up
Rogelio Pardo was down to 178,000 chips and pushed all-in from the button. Carlos Giron folded but Eric Levesque went into the tank. He stayed there so long, Darren Keyes called the clock on him. Finally, Levesque said, “I don’t know why I am doing this” and put in his chips iwth 8♥ 9♦ . Pardo held K♦ J♥ .Pardo hit a jack on both the flop and river and doubled to around 380,000.

Players are now moving up in levels.

2:41pm: Francis-Nicolas Bouchard doubles through Sol Bergren
With two of the shorter stacks sitting in the blinds, Sol Bergren open-shoved from the button and Francis-Nicolas Bouchard made the call from the small blind

Though Bergren retained the lead on the K♣ 4♦ 3♣ flop, Bouchard caught up on the turn when the A♣ fell. The river was the K♥ and Bouchard doubled to 792,000.

2:36pm: Bergren gets the best of Levesque
Eric Levesque opened for 87,000 and Sol Bergren defended his big blind. Bergren led out for 100,000 on the J♦ 10♣ 6♠ flop and Levesque called. The turn fell the 9♦ . Bergren slowed down and checked, Levesque fired out another 150,000, and Bergren called. Both players checked the A♣ on the river.

Bergren turned up A♦ 6♦ for aces up.

“I had two pair. I had you crushed,” said Levesque. “Bad call. 150,000 with a six?”

2:19pm: You raise his blind, you get a speech
Francis-Nicolas Bouchard moved all in for a bit more than 400,000 and the action folded to Eric Levesque in the big blind.

“You like my blind. I might wake up with a monster again!” Levesque warned before folding his hand.

2:17pm: Second flop of the level
Sol Bergren opened the action with a raise to 75,000 from the hijack seat and Carlos Giron looked him up from the big blind. Giron checked the 9♦ 7♦ 4♥ flop to Bergren, who bet 90,000. It was enough to chase Giron away and Bergren took it down.

1:57pm: Carlos Giron doubles through Eric Levesque
With the action folded to him in the small blind, Carlos Giron moved all-in and Eric Levesque made the call from the big blind. Giron’s A♣ 10♣ held up against Levesque’s K-Q on the 4♠ 6♦ 6♠ 4♣ A♦ board and he doubled up to 500,000.

1:45pm: Quick break and back
The players took a quick break for some chicken wings and such. We’re now back in action.

Blinds: 12,000/24,000/3,000

1:33pm: Deuces never what?
Carlos Giron raised to 62,000 and Darren Keyes moved all in for 145,000 more. Giron labored over his call, but eventually made it, showing A♣ 8♣ . It was pocket deuces for Keyes. The board ran out Q♥ K♣ 3♠ Q♦ 4♣ and Keyes managed to double up.

1:29 pm: All-in… with a speech, of course
Francis-Nicolas Bouchard opened for 55,000, Carlos Giron called and Eric Levesque stood up from his chair, launching into one of his signature monologues before declaring himself all-in. As Levesque continued to prattle on, both Bouchard and Giron folded, conceding the pot.

1:19 pm: Bergren picks one up from Keyes
Darren Keyes opened for 58,000 from the button and Sol Bergren called from the big blind. Both players checked the 10♣ 8♥ 2♥ flop. The turn was the 3♥ and Bergren led out for 65,000. Keyes made the call and they went to the river, which fell the 7♦ . Both players checked it down. Bergren showed K♥ 8♣ , his pair of eights good enough to take it down.

1:12 pm: Patrick De Koster eliminated in eighth place ($13,818)
Patrick De Koster open-shoved for 264,000 and Eric Levesque made the call from the small blind, turning up Q♠ Q♥ to De Koster’s A♦ 7♥ . The flop came down 9♠ 5♠ 7♦ , pairing De Koster’s kicker, but the Dutchman couldn’t find any help on the turn or river which fell the J♥ and the K♠ , sending him home in eighth place.

1:09pm: We wanna see!
Darren Keyes raised to 58,000 and everybody folded around to folded to Carlos Giron in the big blind. Giron called and they saw the 9♣ 8♥ A♥ flop. Both players checked to the [6]d turn. This time, Giron bet out 55,000 and Keyes called. The 5♠ fell on the river. Now Giron bet 154,000. Keyes folded.

Eric Levesque chanted, “We wanna see, we wanna see!” Giron did not oblige.

1:05pm: First all-in ends in a chop
Darren Keyes raised to 58,000 and Rogelio Pardo three-bet to 218,000. Keyes moved all-in and Pardo made the call, however both players turned up pocket kings. The board gave everyone a bit of a sweat when two hearts flopped and another turned, but the river blanked out and they chopped the pot.

12:59pm: No more flops
We’d like to report more, but right now, there is no action to speak of. The most exciting thing that’s happened in the last ten minutes is Carlos Giron open-shoving two hands in a row. He got no action. Tournament Director Mike Ward recently told the crowd, “Just so you know, there are three more parts to this game: a flop, a turn, and a river.”

12:48pm: Another flop!
We’ve got another flop to report! Sol Bergren came in for a raise to 60,000 and got a call from Carlos Giron in the blinds. They saw a flop of K♥ 9♥ 4♥ . Giron led at the pot for 43,000 and Begren wasted no time before raising to 200,000. Giron folded almost immediately.

12:42pm: New blinds

We’ve moved up in levels. Now at Level 23, the final table players are playing at 12,000/24,000/3,000.
