PokerStars’ iconic weekly flagship event–the Sunday Million–is set to become a Progressive Knock-Out (PKO) tournament permanently from June 12, 2022, onwards.

In its 16 years of existence, the Sunday Million has maintained its traditional tournament format, with occasional PKO special editions peppered throughout the year. But now, as the popularity of PKO tournaments continues to increase, the event will permanently switch to become a bounty tournament, beginning on June 12, 2022.

But that’s not the only change. There will also be changes to the number of players at each table, plus a brand new blind structure with bigger starting stacks.

Here’s all you need to know about these changes:

• Sunday Million becomes a PKO tournament

• $109 standard buy-in (with special editions throughout the year)

• Tables will change from 9-Max to 8-Max

• New blind structure, bigger starting stacks

  • 50,000 starting stack (currently 10,000)
  • 200 big blinds to start (as it is today)
  • 15-minute levels during the late registration period (ending on 20 big blinds)
  • 12-minute levels for the remainder of Day 1
  • 15-minute levels for Day 2
  • Day 1 will now end one hour earlier at 01:05 CET (currently ends at 02:50 CET)
  • 1400 and 3500 levels cut (but reintroduced after level 40 for more play late on)
  • More timebank at the final table

Whatever its structure, the “Milly” has remained the most prestigious weekly online poker tournament in the world. From the moment “aaaaaaaa” won the very first Sunday Million back in 2006, to Vanessa “Niffler” Kade winning the largest ever Milly for $1.5 million in 2021, right up through this year’s 16th anniversary edition, it remains the online tournament that everybody wants to win, and the one event nobody would ever skip.

To make sure everyone has a fair shot of playing, there have also been some changes to satellites and ways of qualifying:

  • Players who have already won a seat through a Sit & Go satellite will not be able to enter more Sit & Go satellites that week
  • Daily Hybrid tournaments will run Monday to Saturday, with $20K Gtd in Sunday Million tickets for the final two tables (guarantee subject to change)
  • 100 Sunday Million Tickets per week in the Second Chance Prize Draw
  • Bust out of a Sunday Million satellite (direct satellite, not sub-satellite) and get an entry to the Sunday Million Second Chance Draw
  • Limited to just 1 entry per week per player

Whether you play one tournament a week or grind every day, the Sunday Million remains one of the biggest draws in all of online poker.
