Home / News / Adam Miller ends maiden EPT in style with £10K High Roller victory and £312K

Earlier today we spoke to former Deliveroo CFO Adam Miller about his first European Poker Tour (EPT) experience here in London. He qualified for the Main Event online in a £530 satellite, and ran deep, finishing in 56th.

He then final tabled the £550 8-Game and jumped into the EPT London £10,300 High Roller the next day. The event attracted 158 total entries and built a prize pool of £1.53 million.

“It would be pretty fun to win,” he told us when there were eight players remaining. “I have some friends sweating. I care more about the trophy than the money, but I’m just trying to play well and see what happens.”

Fast forward eight hours and Miller is now the champion, having defeated Brazil’s Renan Bruschi, a feared online player who goes by the screen name “Internett93o”, following a heads-up deal.

Bruschi boasts a resume that most players would kill for: A WSOP bracelet. Almost $9 million in online cashes, according to PocketFives. This guy has won the Sunday Million twice, first in 2015 when he won a special edition Milly for a massive $582,500 score, the biggest of his many, many online cashes to date. And he then won it again in 2018 for $147,779. He also has both SCOOP and WCOOP titles and just about every other title one can win online.

But thanks to Miller, a major live title still eludes him.

Miller, an American who has lived in London for the past 10 years, held a big chip lead heads-up and in the end, his AK held against Bruschi’s QJ after all the money went in. For his efforts, Bruschi banked £270,217.

But EPT London was Miller’s time, and he’s now won a trophy on his first major live stop.

THE BEGINNING OF THE END

Eleven players returned on this third and final day, but they were quickly clipped to ten. Lars Kamphues was unlucky to bust in the very first hand when his pocket jacks fell to Daniel Aziz’s pocket nines, and he was followed to the cage by Santhosh Suvarna and Marcello Marigliano.

We then saw two legends of the game fall in eighth and seventh, respectively. Davidi Kitai was felted first, losing a flip to Renan Bruschi. Then Canada’s Mike Watson couldn’t find help with his A10 against Sita Divari’s pocket queens.

But Divari’s good run wouldn’t last long. He flopped top two pair against Alex Keating and got it all in, but Keating had flopped a flush and sent Divari to the rail. And speaking of good runs coming to an end, let’s about the Spaniard, Juan Pardo.

Pardo, known as “MalakaStyle” on PokerStars, has performed exceptionally here at EPT London, first winning the £10K Mystery Bounty, then finishing runner-up in the £50K Super High Roller for £425,680. He’d have to settle for fifth in this one, running ace-queen into ace-king with no help on the board.

FOUR DOWN TO ONE

Alex Keating’s fourth-place bust was particularly brutal. Aziz set him all in with pocket fives and the American snap-called with pocket queens, only for the flop to fall K55. Ouch.

Miller took the chip lead three-handed and extended it when he eliminated Aziz in third place, his A7 outflopping Aziz’s pocket deuces.

And with that, they were heads-up. A deal was made. And Miller ended his maiden EPT in style.

It’s safe to say it won’t be his last.
