$111K day for Lex Veldhuis

Another wildly exciting day took place on the Twitch Poker streets on Monday. The $1K Big Blowout with $982K up top returned for Day 2 on the PokerStars Twitch channel, but all eyes were on PokerStars Ambassador Lex Veldhuis’ stream.

Lex was in the $1K with a big stack, but before we focused on that run, he had the urgent matter of a $5,200 High Roller final table to deal with.

The tournament–a side event for the Blowout Series–kicked off on Sunday and received 225 total entries, creating a $1,125,000 prize pool.

Lex got off to a good start with an early double up:

Later in the event, he busted fellow streamer and online poker legend Jonathan “apestyles” Van Fleet:

When he reached the nine-handed final table, action paused for the day with Lex left to battle the likes of Sam Greenwood, Conor Beresford, and Mikita Badziakouski for the title.

He entered third in chips but got off to a rocky start:

There was a bit of good luck too though. Take this amazing runout, for example:

Alas, Lex would ultimately fall in fourth place after a tricky final hand against “hello_totti”:

Still, he banked $97,256 for his epic run.

All energy then switched to the $1K Big Blowout, where Lex put in another awesome effort to finish in 30th out of 6,922 entries to win an additional $14,029.

Blowout Series is now over. But the next big online series will be on PokerStars before you know it…

Arlie Shaban wins Blowout Series title for $19,707

We’ve seen PokerStars Ambassadors secure some massive wins in the big tournament series across the past 12 months. Fintan “easywithaces” Hand won a Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) title in May, Lex Veldhuis took down a Stadium Series event in August, and Ben “Spraggy” Spragg became a World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) champ in October.

This time, it was Arlie “Prince Pablo” Shaban’s turn in the spotlight.

In the early morning hours on Monday (Jan 18), Shaban emerged victorious in the Blowout Series $22 Progressive Knockout (#84-M) for $19,707, including bounties. That’s the biggest score ever for the prolific Twitch streamer and it came in an enormous event with 15,572 entries.

We caught up with Shaban the day after his win to find out why he took the night off streaming, how he approached the PKO end game, and how it feels to be a Blowout Series champion.

Clips of the week

We can’t help but feel bad for Ben “Spraggy” Spragg.

The PokerStars Ambassador grinded the $55 Blowout Series Sunday Kickoff for some nine hours before he was shoved on for 30 big blinds from the small blind, who held A♣ 5♥ . Spraggy called all-in with Q♣ Q♥ and, well, this is the result.

Rollercoaster for RobinPoker.

Moaned it in all day long.

Nice win for OP-Poker’s James.

Confirmed: winning is better than losing.

Confirmed: losing is worse than winning.

RobinPoker? More like Lazarus.

A very nice pot indeed.

You love to see it.

Hollllllllllllllddd!
