Triple COOP is something relatively new to PokerStars. That’s due to the fact that no one has ever accomplished the feat of winning a WCOOP, SCOOP, and TCOOP.

Shawn “buck21” Buchanan changed that today. He became the first player to ever win all three.

His road to the Triple COOP began in 2007 when he took down a WCOOP title. In 2012, he claimed his first SCOOP title, and he captured a second last year. Today, he won his first TCOOP, and of all events, it was in Razz.

Huge congratulations to Shawn! He set the bar pretty high today for all other PokerStars tournament players.

Razz! Some players love the game, though they may deny it. Others are honest about hating the game but still play it. It’s the friend that claims to want to go out to have fun but then embarrasses you on the dance floor. Or something like that.

No matter players’ feelings about Razz, the demand is there to include it in a series like the 2014 Turbo Championship of Online Poker. Thus, Event 33 offered a $75 + $7 buy-in Limit Razz Turbo for those who want to play but get it over with quickly. And more than 1,000 PokerStars players took a shot at the title.

Players: 1,075
Guarantee: $50,000.00
Prize pool: $80,625.00
Paid players: 136

The tournament moved along at a rapid pace, ultimately bursting the money bubble midway through so the top 136 players could grab at least $137.06 for their troubles. One of the members of Team PokerStars Pro, Jose “nachobarbero” Barbero did make it into the money but exited in 123rd place for $145.12.

Players departed quickly, with only three tables remaining two hours and 45 minutes into the tournament. That number was reduced to two tables before the three-hour break, but it took another 10 minutes to get to hand-for-hand play.

Players departed quickly, with only three tables remaining two hours and 45 minutes into the tournament. That number was reduced to two tables before the three-hour break, but it took another 10 minutes to get to hand-for-hand play. And then it was RblBADGE? who made his move all-in, only to receive calls from CandyJohnson and jickgh_ty, the latter of whom folded to a CandyJohnson bet on fourth street. CandyJohnson produced K♥ 4♣ A♦ 8♥ 8♣ A♥ 10♦ , which edged out the 8♦ 2♦ 4♠ K♣ J♠ 4♥ 8♠ of RblBADGE?, who departed in ninth place with $765.93.

Starsettes soars, buck21 goes for Triple COOP

The final table was set in Level 35, with blinds at 80K/160K and a 16K ante. The players and their starting chip stacks were as follows:

Seat 1: Daleibz1 (201,292 in chips)
Seat 2: ANBEJUJA (1,110,210 in chips)
Seat 3: ALEE24 (947,792 in chips)
Seat 4: jickgh_ty (265,624 in chips)
Seat 5: buck21 (339,000 in chips)
Seat 6: starsettes (1,258,763 in chips)
Seat 7: CandyJohnson (1,057,365 in chips)
Seat 8: BOMON+5+ (194,954 in chips)

BOMON+5+ doubled through CandyJohnson on the second hand, and jickgh_ty did it through starsettes two hands after that, subsequently typing “yesssssssss” in the chat box. Jickgh_ty then took a 1.32 million-chip pot from ANBEJUJA on the next hand to solidify the chip lead.

Daleibz1 was very short-stacked and called all-in on third street after starsettes raised. Daleibz1 ended up with 6♠ 2♦ 7♦ J♦ 8♥ 3♠ A♠ , but starsettes produced 2♥ 4♠ 5♥ A♦ K♠ 7♣ 8♣ for the better low hand. Daleibz1 was the first to leave the final table, taking home $1,169.06 for eighth place.

On the very next hand, ANBEJUJA gets involved with starsettes to go to fourth street, at which point starsettes raised with A♥ 5♣ 7♠ 7♦ . AnBEJUJA had A♠ 6♣ 4♣ 4♦ and called all-in. Starsettes ended up with a 7-5-4-3-A for the win and eliminated ANBEJUJA in seventh place for $1,612.50.

BOMON+5+ got into a raising was on third street with jickgh_ty and moved all-in, and jickgh_ty called 29,908 more. BOMON+5+ ended up with 8♣ 6♥ A♥ 3♥ 6♦ J♠ J♥ , but jickgh_ty had 4♥ A♠ 2♣ 10♣ 8♥ 2♦ A♣ . BOMON+5+ had to leave in sixth place with $2,821.87.

Just as starsettes was beginning to climb again, ALEE24 doubled through. Buck21 doubled through ALEE24, and the latter did it through jickgh_ty.

ALEE24 was still fairly short, though, and got into a third-street raising war on third street with jickgh_ty until betting was capped. ALEE24 quickly moved all-in on fourth street, and jickgh_ty called and collected 3♣ 4♦ 8♦ Q♠ 2♠ 8♥ A♥ . ALEE24 had only 9♣ 8♣ 2♥ J♣ 7♠ A♠ 6♥ , which was only good enough to be ousted in fifth place for $4,031.25.

Two hands later, starsettes moved all-in on third street, and CandyJohnson called. Starsettes was at risk with J♣ 4♣ 3♦ Q♣ Q♥ 9♦ 3♣ , but CandyJohnson had 2♦ 4♥ 5♦ 10♦ 6♣ 7♣ K♠ . Starsettes finished in fourth place with $6,046.87.

Buck21 doubled through jickgh_ty and then through CandyJohnson to climb into a solid second place. But chips moved around quite frequently over the subsequent rounds. CandyJohnson was short but doubled through buck21, and the latter did the same through jickgh_ty twice to take the lead.

There seemed to be no stopping buck21 at that point, and when CandyJohnson wanted to play, buck21 went right along. On fourth street and holding 2♣ 7♦ 4â™  A♥ , buck21 bet, and CandyJohnson raised with 6♥ 9â™  Aâ™  7♥ . Buck21 reraised, and CandyJohnson called all-in. But CandyJohnson couldn’t beat the 8-7-4-2-A low of buck21 when his hand completed with 10♥ 8♥ J♥ . CandyJohnson departed in third place with $8,062.50.

Triple COOP on the line for buck21

The final two competitors began their match with these stacks:

Seat 4: jickgh_ty (1,755,520 in chips)
Seat 5: buck21 (3,619,480 in chips)

Buck21 increased his lead on the fourth hand of the match with a 1.92 million-chip pot, and jickgh_ty moved all-in on the next hand. Jickgh_ty did score the double-up with a 9-7-6-2-A low.

Another five hands later, the two were back to original starting stacks, and they got involved in a big hand. On third street, betting was capped with jickgh_ty showing 10â™  and buck21 the 6♦ . Buck21 took A♣ on fourth street and bet, and jickgh_ty gathered the 9♣ and called all-in. Jickgh_ty’s tournament was on the line with 5♦ 2â™  10â™  9♣ 6♥ 4♣ 4â™  , but buck21 produced 5♣ 4♦ 6♦ A♣ 7♥ Kâ™  Q♣ for the 7-6-5-4-A winning hand. Jickgh_ty accepted second place and the $10,481.25 cash prize.

Shawn “buck21” Buchanan won the TCOOP title and $14,714.50 in cash. Even better, he made online poker history as the first player ever to score a Triple COOP; he had one WCOOP title, 2 SCOOP wins, and now a TCOOP victory. Congratulations, Shawn!
