If you’ve ever played on the European Poker Tour you’d probably recognise Joep van den Bijgaart. Those big glasses and even bigger hair are hard to miss up close. Van den Bijgaart finished seventh at EPT Berlin for €100,000 a couple of seasons ago and more recently scored a solid fifth place finish in the inaugural UKIPT Online £735 Main Event. That score netted him £20,545. He managed a similar amount in just a few hour turbo-charged knock-out rounds last night: including bounties Van den Bijgaart won $20,136.50 for his $215 buy-in.
The Dutchman’s first COOP title may be a feather in his cap (regular, not Dutch) but his ROI was dwarfed by runner-up Zendor from Canada who won $14,008 after satelliting in for $8.20. It might not be million dollar man maratik but it’s still an incredible parlay.
It was also a first COOP title for Doug ‘imcastleman’ Dicken, an online grinder who has racked up close to $1.5m in online tournaments at PokerStars. Good work. The $53,039 was Dicken’s second largest score at PokerStars, second only to a 9th place WCOOP finish in a $215 re-buy.
