Sunday Warm-Up: Simon “pokerbrat13” Charette finishes off $95K win quickly

Sometimes final table experience helps lead a player to a Sunday Major victory. Other times the cards may fall just right. Tonight’s $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up saw our champ Simon “pokerbrat13” Charette use previous final table experience and catch a few big pocket pairs to take home $95,362.42 as this week’s winner.

vagnerl0ve received no gentle embrace from the cards when the 3,037 player tournament collapsed to just two tables left. With the blinds at 25K/50K ante 5K vagnerl0ve would shove 545,625 chips over a min-raise by ShaiStar. ShaiStar would make the call with queens Q♥ Q♣ as vagnerl0ve hoped for big slick A♥ K♥ to find a way to stay alive. The hearts on the turn and river 10♦ 2♠ 8♠ 3♥ J♥ were not enough as vagnerl0ve exited in 18th place ($1,974.05) starting the short race towards the $95,362.42 sitting up top.

One player was trying claim a second Sunday Warm-Up title. heißtercamp won back in 2011 and sitting on a shortstack all-in with big slick against Reshafim87’s jacks. Much like vagnerl0ve’s exit, no ace and no king appeared on the board to send the former champ home in 16th place ($1,974.05).

Only 13 players would make it to the ninth hourly break and on the first hand back nherrego and Reshafim87 decided to flip for a huge 4.7 million pot. With the blinds at 40K/80K ante 8K Reshafim87 would four-bet all-in for 2.34 million as the chip leader nherrego made the call with the popular big slick A♥ K♣ . This time the pocket pair, nines 9♣ 9♦ held by Reshafim87, would not ease through the board as an ace showed up on the flop 8♠ 6♦ A♣ 2♠ 10♦ pushing nherrego’s chip stack over eight million with no one else over three million.

That chip stack would take a few hits after doubling up angrymoron and losing a 2.6 million chip pot to PureCash25. A few minutes later hand-for-hand play would last just one hand as IAdjust2U tried to steer a new course for a depleted stack shoving for 943,381 chips from the button. tormos made the call from the big blind with a small ace 5♠ A♦ . The high card would suffice as IAdjust2U’s K♠ Q♣ was unable to connect with the 9♠ 7♦ 9♥ 2♦ 6♥ board starting up the final table below:

Getting back in position

As mentioned, nherrego’s stack took a few hits prior to the start of the final table but the one-time chip leader was not about to lie down after a few steps backwards. With the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 10K hamanof would open shove for 1.2 million from the button as nherrego made the call from the big blind holding A♥ Q♥ . The recent Sunday Million winner for $196K was dominated with A♦ J♣ and did not improve on the K♣ A♣ 10♠ 6♦ 7♠ board and unable to complete a Sunday Major double in the month of October, taking away $4,859.20 in ninth place.

Credit maxxed out

Just seven minutes later with the blinds holding at 50K/100K, ante 10K, maxxmeister would open-shove from middle position for 910,331 chips as i need sheet made the call from the button. After the blinds folded, maxxmeister turned up pocket fives 5♦ 5♠ to square off against i need sheet’s J♦ A♥ . The fives would last until the third broadway card hit the board 8♥ 10♠ K♠ Q♦ K♣ shipping the two million chip pot to i need sheet and handing over $7,896.20 to the WCOOP and SCOOP champ maxxmeister in eighth place.

Pure cash money

After the two quick eliminations the seven remaining player would all get through an entire blind level without incident. But, as the blinds moved up to 80K/160K ante 16K it was time for someone to leave. PureCash25, who banked $113K after winning the Super Tuesday in January, would min-raise from middle position as keramiken holding 2.3 million chips and pocket fives 5♠ 5♥ in the big blind decided to push all-in. PureCash25 covered and made the call with A♣ 10♣ . A ten would appear on the door card 10♥ 9♦ 6♠ 9♣ A♥ knocking off keramiken in seventh place ($13,970.20).

Time to go

Towards the end of the 100K/200K ante 20K blind level nherrego would lead for a min-raise from early position as tormos made it 943,455 to go from the immediate left. Folded back around to nherrego, he made a play for the pot pre-flop by shoving 4.44 million holding Q♣ K♠ . tormos was not backing down and made the call with pocket tens 10♦ 10♠ . The nine-high board 4♠ 3♦ 3♥ 9♠ 8♣ would not help nherrego receiving $20,044.20 in sixth place.

No longer upset

Two hands later with the blinds switching upwards to 125K/250K ante 25K, pokerbrat13 would raise to 522,499 from the hijack seat as it folded to angrymoron in the small blind holding 2.27 million and pocket queens Q♣ Q♠ . The possibly ill-tempered one would shove as pokerbrat13 was quicker to call holding pocket kings K♣ K♥ . The small percentage chance did not come in on the 7♠ 6♠ J♥ 9♣ J♦ board as angrymoron should find some solace with $26,118.20 in fifth place.

Finished off

Just a few hands later tormos and pokerbrat13 would knot-up pre-flop for a 15.9 million chip pot that went pokerbrat13’s way after catching pocket kings once again and surviving the board against tormos’ ace-queen. Three hands later with the blinds still at 125K/250K ante 25K, tormos would shove 1.56 million from the button as pokerbrat13 made the call with not kings, but jacks J♥ J♦ this time. tormos’ J♠ 10♣ was dominated but nearly turned it around after flopping a straight draw 5♦ 8♥ 9♦ . However, the 10♠ turn and 8♠ river did not change the outcome as tormos collected $34,925.50 in fourth place.

Sorry, I have places to go

Pleas for a deal went up but the play was too fast for any stoppage and four hands later we would be heads-up. With the blinds at 125K/250K ante 25K, pokerbrat13 would raise to a customary 522,499 chips as i need sheet simply shoved for 5.9 million from the small blind. Well, to see anything but pocket kings K♣ K♠ in pokerbrat13’s hand would be uncivilized as the chip leader quickly called. i need sheet’s pocket sevens 7♠ 7♥ did not produce a third seven on the A♦ A♠ 9♣ 10♠ Q♦ board ending the night in third place ($50,426.34).

On a rush to claim the weekly title

Simon “pokerbrat13” Charette may have seen a few good hands in the past few minutes to take a 22.5 million to 7.8 million chip lead into heads-up play but he was not done yet. On the second hand of heads-up play with the blinds forever staying at 125K/250K ante 25K, Charette would raise once again to 522,499 as PureCash25 made the call to see a 5♣ Q♦ 6♦ flop. Both players seem to like after trade bets until PureCash25 was all-in with a straight draw 3♥ 4♥ and pokerbrat13 with a nut-flush draw A♦ 10♦ . The flush would not get there, but the straight would.

Just not PureCash25’s straight.

As the K♥ hit the turn and J♥ on the river completing the broadway straight for Simon “pokerbrat13” Charette who earned $95,362.42 as this week’s Sunday Warm-Up champion!
