With St. Patrick’s Day landing on a Sunday this year many people celebrated the Irish holiday last night creating some hangovers for serious players looking to go deep in tonight’s Sunday Majors. The $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-Up does not finish in two hours as our final two players found out as heads-up play extended tournament to over eleven and a half hours. Our champion tonight, mattck86, has been here before. Heads up for the title last month, but this time one late river card favored the Polish player and $100,001.48 was shipped to matt86ck after defeating aJarov of Russia heads-up.

hitthehole once again made a deep run in the Sunday Warm-Up finishing in 17th place in December once again was down to the last two tables and got it in good with A♦ J♣ against roosi88’s 8â™  A♥ all-in preflop for a 1.9 million chip pot with blinds at 40K/80K ante 8K. But, an eight on the flop and one on the turn K♦ A♣ 8♥ 8♣ 4â™  put away the UK player in 16th place ($2,105.40) as fellow United Kingdom rounder, Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis, followed closely behind in 14th place ($3,158.10).

Lewis would bust out shortly before the ninth hourly break leaving 13 players to vie for the $110K first place prize including the chip leader Jim “Mr_BigQueso” Collopy who has a couple of 2012 WCOOP final tables to his credit including the one that earned fellow Australian Dan “djk123” Kelly his fourth WCOOP title. matt86ck would be looking to make the most of a return trip to the final table after chopping this tournament last month for $93K.

Triple_Ace69 needed triple treys after getting all-in preflop with 3♣ 3♥ versus stpauli111’s pocket kings K♥ K♣ . Despite adding a few outs on the turn 4♥ 10♥ A♦ 5♥ 9♣ , Triple_Ace69 would claim 12th place ($4.210.80). stpauli111 found another premium hand four minutes later and used it to knockout a shortstacked FortinSimard. With the blinds at 50K/100K ante 50K should ship from the small blind for 584,694 holding 9♣ Q♣ as stpauli111 woke up with aces Aâ™  A♦ in the big blind. Two clubs on the board would give FortinSimard a sweat but the rivered boat K♦ 10♣ A♥ 4♣ 10♦ sealed the Canadian’s tournament in 11th place ($4,210.80).

A short hand-for-hand segment would play out as the blinds held at 50K/100K ante 10K as rebelwinner1 shoved from the button for 1.41 million chips. aJarov answered the small blind with a re-shove for more holding J♥ A♦ and was looking up at rebelwinner1’s pocket kings K♣ K♦ . The board spread out a straight 7♥ 6â™  9♦ 10♥ 8♣ that connected by aJarov’s jack to claim the 2.97 million chip pot and start up the final table below:

Seat 4: roosi88 (5114826 in chips)

Seat 6: 1471983 (1451377 in chips)

Big stack play

The rest of the 50K/100K ante 10K level and the entire 65K/130K ante 13K level both went by without casualty to our final nine. But, as the new 80K/160K ante 16K level started chip leader Mr_BigQueso would open for a min-raise from the button as shortstacked FishingCh621 shove from the big blind for 819,846 chips total. Holding a meager 4♦ 10♦ but nearly eight million in chips, Collopy made the call facing off against A♣ J♠ . The board laid down a ten 6♥ 10♥ K♥ 7♥ 7♦ on the flop to take down the 1.86 million chip pot as FishingCh621 moved to fresher waters in ninth place ($5,614.40).

Two minutes for instigating

On the first of the new 100K/200K ante 20K level instigator85 would open shove for 2.1 million chips as Bussic in the small blind called for 150K less. instigator85 turned up pocket sevens 7♥ 7♣ as Bussic showed Qâ™  Aâ™  for the coin flip. Only one spade and one face card showed up for the party as the 4♣ J♣ 8♥ 3♥ 5â™  board sent the 4.27 million chip pot to instigator85 and Bussic claimed $8,772.50 in eighth place and 14711983’s plea for a seven-way chop was met by crickets and a five minute break to think about a second attempt during the tenth hourly break.

Five minute major penalty

Almost five minutes back from the break, instigator85 tried starting another fight to eliminate another player. Watch below as stpauli111 and instigator85 shove preflop for a 3.91 million chip pot:

stpauli111’s Qâ™  A♦ would need some sizable help against instigator85’s aces A♣ A♥ and caught four outs on the flop K♦ 9♣ J♣ but the remainder of the board 9♦ Kâ™  ran dry earning instigator85 the 3.91 million chip pot and stpauli111 seventh place cash ($15,790.50).

instigator gets sent to the locker room

Before finishing up the 125K/250K ante 25K level matt86ck had taken over the chip leader duties as instigator85 could not build much after eliminating two players. Holding pocket twos 2♥ 2♦ instigator85 would shove 3.29 million from the button. Sitting on 14.6 million chips and big slick K♣ A♠ matt86ck called the bet as both players watched nines and jacks hit the 7♥ J♠ J♣ 9♦ 9♣ board to watch out the deuces and instigator85 in sixth place ($22,808.50).

Roosi is removed

With the blinds moving up to 150K/300K ante 30K roosi88 was ground down to just 2.01 million in the small blind holding a small ace A♥ 3♣ and decided to test the big blind with a shove. The chip leader matt86ck was happy to answer the test with a “yes” and a superior hand after calling with A♦ J♥ . Both players paired their ace but nothing more 6â™  A♣ 5♦ 8♦ 4♥ as matt86ck jack kicker reigned and roosi88 owned fifth place ($29,826.50).

No more cheese

Collopy’s chip lead would slide over to matt86ck over the course of the final table to this point as the Australian just could not find a foothold to gain back those chips. With the blinds holding at 150K/300K ante 30K Mr_BigQueso would shove a short stack of 2.09 million from the button as matt86ck called from the small blind. 1471983 had no intentions of allowing matt86ck into the hand and shoved as well for 5.6 million. Despite well-covering both bets, matt86ck folded as Collopy’s pocket kings K♦ Kâ™  found a cooler in 1471983’s aces Aâ™  A♣ . Neither player improved on the 2â™  Jâ™  5♦ 8♣ Qâ™  board as Jim’s night at the Sunday Warm-up came to a close in fourth place ($40,353.50).

Deal time!

Time… time… time…

Well some chop talks take a few minutes to get the PokerStars computers firing correctly, this one would extend for about 30 minutes as these players had plenty to discuss before settling down to the numbers shown below and leaving $10,000.00 for the champ.

matt86ck: $90,001.48
aJarov: $76,478.88
1471983: $73,712.51

One double up, but not two

As the blinds moved up to 200K/400K ante 40K 1471983 shrunk down to 3.01 million chips and found a double up with J♣ Q♣ against aJarov’s 8♣ Aâ™  by finding a queen on the flop and a jack on the turn K♥ Q♦ 4â™  J♥ 3♦ . Then on the next hand 1471983 would open shove from the button for that newly doubled stack holding A♣ Q♣ . But, this time matt86ck was waiting with a dominating hand K♥ A♦ . The 7♦ 9♣ J♣ 4♣ 9â™  board kept the percentages in mattck86’s favor as 1471983 took home a sizable third place cut ($73,712.51).

Better result for matt86ck?

Last month matt86ck made the most of the run to the Sunday Warm-Up final table chopping the tournament two-ways. This time the Polish player would chop three-ways and was heads-up for the title once again this time with the chip lead (23.1 million to 11.9 million).

The lead teeter back and forth but the tournament would come down to one big flip. Watch below as matt86ck and aJarov get it in preflop for a 33.7 million chip pot leaving 1.3 million in aJarov’s stack:

Pocket fives 5♥ 5♣ for aJarov faced off against matt86ck’s big slick Aâ™  K♦ . The river 3♥ 2â™  4♦ 7♦ K♣ surfaced the tournament saving king for matt86ck. On the very next hand, aJarov threw the scraps into the middle as matt86ck made the call with just 8â™  3♥ . A♦ 6♥ looking for redemption after the heartbreak would not find it as two trey’s hit the 3♦ 10â™  9♣ 4♣ 3â™  board to ship the extra $10,000.00 and tonight’s Sunday Warm-Up title to matt86ck!
