Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Warm-Up: Final Warm-Up of 2012 goes to inwooke winning $108K

The $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up poker year started exactly on New Year’s with jenbizzle claiming the top prize of $97K likely with many people nursing hangovers and questionable decisions. Tonight’s Sunday Warm-Up to close the year of crushing that guarantee constantly week after week would end with inwooke earning $108,205.21 in victory this evening on a the $215 buy-in. Or if the South Korean took the satellite route, much less of an initial investment.

Just before the ninth hourly break we would bid farewell to the noble dragonwarior in 15th place earning $3,101.40 as that left 14 players looking at 30K/60K ante 6K blinds and $108,205.21 on the table for the winner tonight.

22 minutes later after four eliminations with the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 10K ShankingYou would raise to 200,023 chips as andrepatrick called out of the big blind. Both players would check on the 2♥ J♣ 10♣ flop, but on the 9♦ turn andrepatrick came out of the shell to shove for just over a million chips and ShankingYou was equally quick in called with the nut straight Q♦ K♦ . andrepatrick’s top pair J♦ Q♣ needed a king for a chop, but failed to find one on the river 3♦ finishing in 10th place ($4,135.20) and starting up the final table below:

Seat 1: Veritas0086 (2379757 in chips)
Seat 2: ShankingYou (6496141 in chips)
Seat 3: grussiova (5108458 in chips)
Seat 4: phaplap (9575632 in chips)
Seat 5: LUNARI29 (718387 in chips)
Seat 6: stiene222 (2369126 in chips)
Seat 7: DEXX_RJ (2422321 in chips)
Seat 8: Truthislie (1729398 in chips)
Seat 9: inwooke (3660780 in chips)

The truth shall set you free

Just eight minutes into the final table with the blinds up to 65K/130K ante 13K Truthislie with just 317,077 chips left after doubling up Veritas0086 five hands ago would open shove from middle position getting calls from the aforementioned Veritas0086 and phaplap out of the big blind. Veritas0086 would bet 342,432 chips at the 3♠ A♠ 8♥ telling phaplap to take a hike. And hike phaplap did by folding as Veritas0086 turned up 10♠ A♦ outkicking the A♥ 7♣ held by Truthislie. No help on the turn 3♥ and river 9♣ for a split and Truthislie was set free in ninth place ($5,513.60).

RAAAAAAAAAAAWR!

Sorry there is no place to implant a Wookie sound bite into the wrap this evening so just imagine the sound of Chewbacca winning a big hand at the Sunday Warm-Up final table. Just four hands after Truthislie took leave in ninth place LUNARI29 would open shove a small stack of 827,774 chips from the cutoff as inwooke made the call from the big blind holding Aâ™  2♦ . LUNARI29’s pocket tens 10â™  10♦ were firmly in the lead until a deuce and ace both hit the flop 2â™  4â™  A♥ 4♣ 4♦ turning the 1.82 million chip pot over to inwooke. LUNARI29 would need to find solace in big eighth place ROI ($8,615.00).

Chop talks would briefly take a spin around the table during the tenth hourly break but with blinds at 80K/160K ante 16K and an average of almost five million chips the table decided more play was needed before cutting up the remaining prize pool.

X’d out of the tournament

Nearly 45 minutes after LUNARI29’s elimination the table decided it was too full and needing some trimming. Just before the blinds were scheduled to go up, currently at 100K/200K ante 20K Veritas0086 would min-raise from first position as grussiova two chairs down shoved for 2.96 million. In the small blind DEXX_RJ would reshove for 3.73 million as Veritas0086 left the dead chips in the middle. Big slick K♥ A♦ for DEXX_RJ would flip against the pocket eights 8♦ 8♣ of grussiova. The flip did not last long as an ace came off on the flop 10♥ 4♣ Aâ™  Jâ™  J♥ and held for the win as grussiova collected $15,507.00 in seventh place.

Getting the most of the experience

phalap: “now it is getting weird

Indeed it was, because another 45 minutes would go by for six-handed play as they would play through two more levels without a single purge from the field as they sat down for the 11th hourly break still fairly healthy but the 200K/400K ante 40K blinds were starting to hurt.

Then, two hands after the restart the table a big hand finally happened. phaplap would open for a min-raise as DEXX_RJ called in the cutoff. Wanting to take the easy chips, Veritas0086 shoved for 4.14 million as phaplap folded but DEXX_RJ made the call. J♣ A♣ for Veritas0086 would need to catch something against the pocket tens 10♠ 10♥ of DEXX_RJ. Someone caught the board, but it was not Veritas0086 as a ten peeled off on the turn 7♦ 4♦ 7♣ 10♦ K♦ to lockup the 9.7 million chip pot for DEXX_RJ and also lock up $22,399.00 in sixth place for Veritas0086.

Chain Reaction

Something happened on the break that knocked everyone awake as four hands later with the blinds still at 200K/400K ante 40K we would have another all-in and a call. Check out the video below for the 9.8 million chip pot between inwooke and ShankingYou:

Holding Q♦ Kâ™  ShankingYou decided to make the all-in call against inwooke’s shove from the small blind. inwooke’s small ace 5â™  A♦ managed to get through the five cards on the board 6♣ 3♥ 6♥ 6â™  J♦ to knock the 2012 WCOOP Event #3 final tablist out in fifth place ($29,291.00).

On the very next hand phaplap tried the same thing as inwooke by open shoving from the small blind for eight million chips. stiene222 holding 2.72 million and a decent ace J♥ A♠ made the call. phaplap showed the connecting 9♣ 8♥ which paired up on the turn and made a straight by the river 10♦ K♦ 6♠ 8♠ 7♥ to send stiene222 home in fourth place ($39,629.00).

Long time no see

It would take an hour and a half to go from eight players to six. But only 13 minutes to reach heads-up play. With the blind increase to 250K/500K ante 50K inwooke did not bother cutting out a raise and shoved for 14.8 million from the button as phaplap made the call for less in the small blind holding big slick Aâ™  K♦ . 12.8 million chips on the line for inwooke’s pocket fours 4â™  4♦ . Watch below as a runner-runner would turn the tides on this important hand.

phaplap would flop the ace, but inwooke made the unlikely wheel A♥ 3♥ 2♣ 5♦ taking out phaplap in third place ($56,859.00).

Case eight for the win

The final two would battle for over 20 minutes as inwooke started off with a 21.5 million to 12.8 million chip lead and blinds at 250K/500K ante 50K. The pair would trade minor blows until the blinds moved up to 300K/600K ante 60K and decided to end things preflop. After expanding the lead to 22.3 million to DEXX_RJ’s 12 million inwooke would min raise from the button as DEXX_RJ shoved holding 8♣ A♥ . inwooke took a small pause before making the call with pocket eights 8♦ 8â™  . The eight on the river Q♣ Qâ™  6♦ 6♥ 8♥ was for show as inwooke became the last Sunday Warm-Up champion of 2012 winning $108,205.21!
