Weekend highlights

GJ’s Lunar New Year finale a huge success: GJ’s Lunar New Year poker festival proved a success among micro-stakes players, particularly the Main Event. The event had a $20k guarantee, but the actual prize pool was more than double that, $47,471 from 4,844 entrants. “poriassat” of Finland won the Main Event for $5,673 following a three-way deal on the final table.

Sam Grafton

Team Pro player Sam Grafton takes down $215 Fat Sunday

Sam Grafton and Lex bink for Team Pro: Team Pro were out in force. Following a multi-tourney heater last week, Lex Veldhuis had yet more success, claiming first place in the $44 Bounty Builder on Sunday, as well as third place in the $530 Sunday Marathon and third place in the $215 Bounty Builder for a total of $40k in cashes. Sam “SamSquid” Grafton also binked one and final tabled another, placing first in the $215 Fat Sunday for $3,021, then following up with a fourth place finish in the $1,050 Sunday Warm-up for $6,795.

Gustavo Mastelotto among High Roller Club winners: In the High Roller Club, where online poker’s elite battle it out, “HansDenSvans” of Denmark made an assault on an extremely tough Sunday Warm-upfinal table to finish first for $16,194. In the Sunday HR, Gustavo “22ehnutzz” Mastelotto had to push through Jans Arends and Artur Martiroysan to lock up first place and add $41,567 to over $4.1 million in online winnings. In the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic, “seijistar” and “Gedis92” made a heads-up deal. Gedis92 took more from the deal and ultimately a bigger prize from the tourney, although it was seijistar who locked up the win for $16,370 – the entire tourney coming to a close in under two hours.

Andrew “stato_1” Hulme scores on multiple final tables

Andrew Hulme still on fire: Last week, Andrew “stato_1” Hulme won the $1,050 Saturday KO. The week before they won the $215 Fat Tuesday. Hulme’s hot run shows no sign of slowing. This time, the UK pro, who has over $3.5 million in online tournament winnings, came second in the $1,050 Sunday Warm-up for $12,124, second in the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown for $9,956, and final tabled the 50/50 Series Saver event for $2,238. It’ll be a lucrative year indeed if Hulme can keep it up.

Three big cashes for HATE007: Another player who did very well for themselves this weekend is “HATE007”. Although not quite locking up a first place, the Belarusian player impressed with a multitude of final table successes on Saturday. HATE007 placed sixth in the 50/50 Series Mini Bounty Builder HR for $4,088, second in the 50/50 Series Saturday Special for $13,083, and fifth in the $530 Bounty Builder HR for $3,630 – a total of over $20k in final table cashes.

DEX888 wins $5k Titans: The $5k Titans event reached a prize pool of $630k from 126 entries. “DrawindDead” of Poland was chip lead at the break, but eventually finished fourth, leaving it to “DEX888” of Austria to beat the competition late on and earn an epic first prize. After besting “kylix42” of Brazil heads-up, DEX888 walked away with $138,087.
