It’s as if we should preface each weekend review with the words: ‘Every weekend is massive at PokerStars, but this is the reason that this weekend was particularly insane. So, this weekend…

PokerStars broke the world record for the largest ever poker tournament again. This time a field of 225,000 players was clocked up – a truly phenomenal number of bums on seats – as part of the 100 Billion Hand Celebration. Mr.SlavaPro took it home for Russia collecting $25,000 – a very tasty ROI for a $1 buy-in – with Greek player johnnykara75 booking 2nd place for $15,000. It’s been a good few days for Greece: Isidora ‘microulis69’ Panagiotopoulou won the 100,000,000,000th hand to be dealt at PokerStars for a bonus $103,800.

Celebrations weren’t exclusively the preserve of the Hellenic. Capote18 from Germany won the Sunday Million for $171,839.20, sava-lenivec from Russia collected $73,203.33 and a Sunday Warm-Up title, while Mat ‘Matfrankland’ Frankland took down the $320 Saturday Super-Knockout for $22,160.28. There were also smaller tournament wins for the likes of Chris ‘d0r1t0s’ McClung and Toby ‘810ofclubs’ Lewis, who also took a bounty milestone (see 4pm of our Million Dollar Hand live blog coverage). Take a look at all the final table finishers from this weekend’s major tournaments.

There is also this little poker festival going in Las Vegas called the World Series of Poker. You might have heard of it. Click here for the a round-up of the biggest news from Sin City, including Scott Seiver’s heads-up capitulation to David Chiu and a nearly-but-no-cigar for two EPT champs hunting their first WSOP bracelets.
