December is here and while Jack Frost might not yet be nipping at your nose he certainly can’t be far away (unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere, of course). In most industries things start to slow down in this December run-in; Christmas parties, Xmas shopping and the looming threat of spending the holidays with your family start getting in the way. Not so in the poker world.

We dealt our 90 Billionth hand last Thursday (and have already clocked up another 190 million since), the Sunday majors are busting at the seams before the Christmas turkey has even been put in the oven and we’re giving you presents before most people have even dusted off last year’s tinsel.

  • Christmas came early for Kevin ‘iacog4’ Iacofano who won the Sunday Million for $197,052.26 to finally claim a big title. Iacofano has made two EPT final table and one WSOP but has always fallen short of winning a big one, as was noted during EPT Berlin. Will the floodgates open for Iacofano now?

  • Talking of presents let’s look at the changes rung in for the VIP club as announced at the Amsterdam Live VIP get together. For more details click here.

  • We announced that the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be hosting the first ever Open-Face Chinese poker tournament. Read more here.

  • On the subject of the PCA, you can see a pictorial breakdown of the history of the event here.

  • Forget about turkey, it was all about ham in the 90 Billionth hand promotion. m1sspiggy was awarded $66,380 for winning hand number 90,000,000,000. The table as a whole won a bonus $229,630. Read about it here.

  • Team PokerStars Pros that have been good boys over the last week include the irrepressible Marcel Luske, the unreadable Alex Karvchenko and the evergreen Barry Greenstein. Catch up with the latest Team Pro columns here.

  • And to see who else figured in the weekly tournaments over the weekend take a look here. Wins for the likes of Clayton ‘slammedfire’ Mozdzen and a double win for salfshb from the UK who took down the Sunday warm-Up for $111,533.97 and the $215 Weekly NLSD 2-7 for $1,300.
