Home / News / Poker in the Ears podcast awards 2 last-minute Platinum Passes!

Here we go! James and Joe give away the final #PlatinumPass before the Bahamas. Find out who from the #PITE community is going to #PCA2023 to play the $25k PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship. Before that, the guys are joined by poker pro and commentator Griffin Benger to preview the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the #PSPC. They talk about what’s happening when, what’s being streamed (on Twitch and YouTube) and what’s being filmed for TV.

With two last-minute Platinum Passes in their possession, Poker in the Ears hosts James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton did a random draw and called the first competition entry to be chosen. Excitement built as the dial tone rang. And rang. And rang.

All that person would have to do is correctly answer a question on either the PCA, the PSPC, or the Bahamas and they’d win themselves a coveted Platinum Pass worth $30,000.

But that person never answered.

We’ll never know who it was or whether they would have gotten it right (although whoever it is might be kicking themselves now!) but it was on to contestant no.2.

Alex Irwin.

Irwin played in the inaugural edition of the PSPC back in 2019, having won his Platinum Pass through a live tournament win.

He failed to cash that time but now has a second shot.

Meanwhile, James and Joe had a second pass to give away. Unfortunately, the third contestant to play got the question wrong (you’ll have to listen to the podcast to see if you could have answered it correctly).

That meant a fourth randomly-drawn contestant was called.

Asif Warris – affectionately known in the poker community as the Poker Tourist.

Like Irwin, Warris also played the first PSPC but failed to cash.

Best of luck to both Irwin and Warris as they head back to the Bahamas!
