After more than 800 submissions in the ACOP Twitter Contest, our judges have come to a decision on a winner. Nickolas Kay (Twitter ID: @nickakay) from Manchester, UK was selected as having the best nickname with ‘Spadies’ which describes the playing card symbol that is prominent on the ‘ACOP Title Event’ trophies (pictured).

Kay receives an ACOP (Asia Championship of Poker) prize package which includes a HKD $25,000 ACOP Warm-up event entry to the HKD $5 million guaranteed tournament; in addition, hotel accommodation at the City of Dreams and money for travel expenses.

It will be interesting to follow Kay’s journey in Macau’s biggest poker series as well as find out whether Spadies sticks. After all, a nickname is only a nickname if people use the term and make that connection.

While Spadies hasn’t been formally adopted by the ACOP, Team PokerStars Pro Raymond Wu gave it a thumbs up.

“I like it, let me try it out. I’ve got one Spadie. In another month I’ll have 2 or 3 Spadies!” said Wu with a grin. “Yep, it works.”

The 2013 Asia Championship of Poker begins October 18.
