Teng Leads Final Table, Fan Looking to Make History
The MPC20 Red Dragon final table has been set!
Australia’s Victor Teng leads the final nine, but the big story is Terry Fan making the final table of this record-breaking Red Dragon after winning the previous record-holding tournament back in April of last year.

12:30am: Jimmy Pan Out in 10th, Final Table Set!
Jimmy Pan has just been eliminated in 10th place, meaning we are down to the final nine in the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event.
Pan was all in preflop holding A♣ 2♦ and had to come up against Victor Teng’s Q♦ Q♣ .
The board ran out K♣ 2♣ 4♦ 9♥ 3♠and Pan was sent home!
For his effort Pan received HK$119,400. That is Pan’s second largest result following his runner-up finish in the 2011 APPT Macau Main Event.

12:20am: Round-by-Round
Since Hoang Anh Do was eliminated the final two five-handed tables have been running round-by-round. Since then It has been quite slow going. You see even though the players only have around a 15 big blind average, APPT President Danny McDonagh has a 40 big blind average guaranteed at the final table, so the clock is going to be wound way back at the final table.
12:10am: Do Gone in 11th,Bold Big Chip Lead
Buyanjargal Bold has done it again!
He has just dealt the fatal blow to 2012 APPT Cebu champions Hoang Anh Do.
We arrived to find Do all in preflop for 460,000 and with Bold and Percy Yung both making the call.
Do then watched on as Yung and Bold checked down a K♣ A♠Q♦ 8♣ 8♥ board.
Do was first to show and he reluctantly turned over J♥ J♠. Yung then showed her J♣ J♦ .
Then… Bold snapped over A♦ 9♣ and gave a triumphant cry!
Do goes home in 11th and we are now one elimination off the final table!
11:55pm: Then There Were 12
Xingrong Ren has just been eliminated in 12th place!
He was short stacked and all in holding J♥ 3♥ against the J♣ J♠of Buyanjargal Bold.
The board ran out 7♦ 3♠7♣ 6♣ 2♥ and Ren was sent home with HK$96,000 for his time.
Bold is looking like a handy chip leader right now!
11:45pm: Back to Bust Three
The players are back from their break and the cards are back in the air!
Of the 12 returning players, three will not make the final table.
We are no commencing blinds of 40,000/80,000 with a 10,000 ante.
11:35pm: Twelve to Break
The players have been sent on a 10-minute break!

11:25pm: Big Yung Double
Percy Yung has just doubled to around 1.8 million. Yung was all in preflop holding Jx-Jx against the A♦ 9♦ of Akash Malik. The board ran out 2-3-6-8-K and Yung stacked up her new chips.
Malik is still going strong on around 2 million.
11:10pm: Wei Kuo Hsiao out in 13th
It’s taken a long time to lose our 13th place finisher, but eventually it was Xiao Yu Lin
who would fall to the rail.
Xiao Yu Lin had his short stack all in preflop holding J♦ 7♦ and was up against Akash Malik’s 9♥ 8♥ . When a J♣ 10♦ 10â™ flop was spread on the felt, Malik’s rail screamed
“Straight draw, straight draw!”
Turn: Qâ™
And the crowd goes wild!
The 6♣ river changed nothing and unfortunately it was all over for Lin.

10:50pm: Pan Hurting, Lin Flying
Xiao Yu Lin has just doubled up through Jimmy Pan. Lin was all in for 775,000 holding Aâ™ Kâ™ and was up against Pan’s 6♣ 6♥ . The board ran out 8♥ K♣ 8♦ 10♦ 2â™ and Pan the pot was raked to Lin.
Pan is still alive with around 700,000 and Lin is crushing on 1.5 million.
10:35pm: Level 24 Begins, Blinds 30,000/60,000, Ante 5,000
10:25pm: Liu Jams River
The action has been pretty slow lately, with Jianhong Liu jamming all in being one of the only action moments that we can report on.
It Liu up against Richard Hu and we picked up with the action from the river of a 4♣ J♦ 6♣ 7♦ A♥ board. Hu checked to Liu and he moved all in for 330,000. HU went deep into the tank here, eventually letting his cards go.
10:15pm: More Chips for Akash
Akash Malik has just taken down a very nice pot to add even more chips to his stack.
He was up against Percy Yung on a 9♣ 2♣ Q♥ 3♥ 3♣ board. Yung led for 105,000 on the flop and Malik called. Both players checked the turn and a 3♣ completed the board on the river. Yung check-called a bet of 155,000 here and quickly mucked when Malik showed 7♣ 4♣ for a rivered flush.
10:00pm: Minseong Kim Down in 15th
One of two last ladies standing, Minseong Kim, has just been sent home!
Kim was eliminated in 15th place when she moved all in preflop holding 7♥ 7♠and ran into the A♠A♦ of Jimmy Pan. The board was an uneventful 9♦ 4♠5♥ Q♥ 4♥ and with that Kim was gone.
Just 14 players remain!
9:50pm: Wong Gone in 16th
Ka Cheong Wong has been eliminated in 16th place.
It was a small blind versus big blind situation. Wong was in the small blind and when it folded to him he moved all in holding 8-5. Hoang Anh Do was in the big blind and made the call with A-4. The board ran out blanks and Do took it down with ace-high!
9:35pm: Back for Level 23
The players are back from the break and the cards are in the air!
We are now commencing Level 23 – blinds 20,000/40,000 with a 5,000 ante.
Let’s see how long it takes the final 16 to whittle down to just nine!
9:25pm: Break for Sixteen
The 16 remaining players have been sent on a 10-minute break!
9:20pm: Kunal Jain Out, Akash Leader Again
Kunal Jain has just fallen to the rail in 17th place and Akash Malik is once again the chip leader.
Jain got all his chips in on a 2â™ K♣ 10♣ flop holding K♥ Q♥ . Malik held 10♥ 10â™ for the flopped set. The 3♣ turn and the 5♦ river didn’t save Jain and he was eliminated!
9:15pm: Kai Bai Gone in 18th
Kai Bai is the first player to be eliminated at the final two tables.
He was all in holding Aâ™ 6â™ and couldn’t catch up against 9â™ 9♦ .
Bai received HK$67,000 for his 18th place.
9:10pm: Choi Out and down to Two Tables

9:05pm: Fan Sends Peltier Out
Terry Fan has continued his great run, recently sending Franck Peltier home in 20th place.
Peltier was all in preflop holding A♥ 9♥ , but couldn’t catch up against Fan’s pocket nines on a K-T-7-5-Q board.
With 19 players left, Fan is looking like a dominating force here in the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event!
8:55pm: Zhaojun Ruan out in 21st
It’s been quite a while since we lost a player, but Zhaojun Ruan changed all that as he was eliminated in 21st place.
Ruan’s final hand saw him all in holding A♥ Q♦ against K♣ K♥ . The board ran out 5♦ 10♣ 3â™ 7♥ 7â™ and Ruan was out in 21st place.
8:50pm: Percy Doubles Through Akash
Chip leader Akash Malik is no longer the chip leader after he doubled up Percy Yung. He does however still have a very respectable 1.6 million in chips.
Yung is up to 1.2 million following the hand that saw her all in holding A♦ Q♣ against the J♦ J♠of Malik. The board ran out 3♠4♣ 7♠8♦ A♥ and that was that.
8:40pm: Big River for Peltier
Franck Peltier has just found a great river against Terry Fan. All the chips went in on a 8♥ 2♣ 2♦ flop, with the big-stacked Fan holding 4♠2♠against the 8♦ 5♠of Peltier. It was looking bleak for Peltier here and nothing changed on the 3♠turn. Then a 8♣ came on the river and he doubled to around 500,000.
8:30pm: Fan On A Mission
If any player knows how to navigate a giant MPC Red Dragon field it’s Terry Fan. Now his chances of winning the two largest Red Dragon events in history have just increased.
We didn’t catch all the action of the latest big pot that went to Fan, but we did see a 8♥ 2â™ 2♥ 10♣ 5♥ board and Fan’s 5â™ 5♣ on the felt. He scooped up another few hundred thousand here and now has around 1.9 million in chips.
After a very quick start to the day, the action has slowed down considerably as for the first time today we haven’t lost a player in over half an hour.
8:20pm: Level 22 Begins, Blinds 15,000/30,000, Ante 4,000
8:05pm: The Big Stacks
With 22 players remaining it is India’s Akash Malik who has the chip lead with around 1.9 million in chips. Buyanjargal Bold is also going strong with around 1.6 million in chips, while Terry Fan is on 1.2 million. Amazingly Fan was the player who took down the then record-breaking 891-player Red Dragon in April of last year. What an amazing effort to make it this far in the new record-breaking Red Dragon!
7:55pm: One more Down and Payjump
Wei Zhang has just been eliminated in 23rd place for a HK$48,000 score. The remaining 22 players have now made the next payjump. They will receive at least HK$57,000.
“If your eliminated in the Red Dragon now you can buy-in to the HK$50,000 High Roller and still have change,” APPT President Danny McDonagh told the room.
The High Roller McDonagh is referring to recently started and there are a couple of surprise entries including Team PokerStars Pro Isaac Haxton and Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo.
7:45pm: Pan Sends Mak Home
Jimmy Pan was under the gun when he looked down at A♦ K♠. He opened it up to 50,000 and the action folded around to Hoi Ian Mak in the big blind. Mak looked down at A♣ Q♠and made the call.
The 8â™ 8♣ Aâ™ flop would see Mak lead for 67,000 and Pan call. The turn was a 4♥ and this time Mak moved all in for around 200,000. Pan immediately called and the two players turned their hands over. Mak wasn’t excited to see Pan’s cards and then left the tournament area when the river was a 6♦ .
Mak was eliminated in 24th place.
7:30pm: Hu Doubles as Tang Out
Richard Hu has just doubled up. He was all in for 327,000 on the turn of a 7♥ 4♣ 7♣ 6♥ board. Hu held 4♥ 4♦ against J♠J♥ . The river was a 3♣ and with that Hu was up to around 700,000.
While Hu was busy doubling, Wei Guo Tang was sent home in 25th place.
Then there were 24.
7:20pm: Back for Level 21
The 26 players are back from their break and the cards are back in the air!
We are now beginning Level 21, with blinds at 10,000/20,000 with a 3,000 ante.
7:10pm: Twenty-Five Head on Break
Exactly 25 players remain in the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event.
Those players are now on a 10-minute break.

7:00pm: Lacey Jones out in 27th
Just a few moments after we broke down to just three tables and Lacey Jones has been eliminated! Jones was all in preflop holding pocket jacks and it was a race against Ace-King. Jones found a great flop – Tx-9x-8x – but the Ax turn and the 4x river meant she was eliminated in 27th place.
6:50pm: Three More Down, Three Tables Remain
The quick elimination of three more players means we are down to the final three tables. Akash Malik is the chip leader of the final 27, while Percy Yung still has plenty of chips, along with Buyanjargal Bold. A few of the notable names still alive also include Lacey Jones and last year’s January Red Dragon champion Terry Fan. Check out the recent eliminations below.

The 27 remaining players have made the latest pay jump. The next few players eliminated will take home HK$48,000.
6:35pm: Just Two Million Chips for Akash
The chip leader has changed once again!
We arrived at the aftermath of the massive hand that would see Akash Malik with the most chips in front of him. All the chips had gone in on the turn of a 4♦ 8♦ J♥ 5♠K♦ board. It was Malik up against Jiajun Hu. Apparently Hu had continuation bet on the flop, Malik called and then Hu led the turn, Malik raised and Hu over-bet for more than 700,000. Malik made the call.
Malik had 7♥ 6♣ for the turned straight, while Hu had Tx-9x for a straight draw. The river saw Malik stay in front and with that became our chip leader.
The Indian poker rail is now out in full force too, chanting on their friend the chip leader!
Hu was eliminated in 31st place.
6:20pm: Percy Yung Sends home Gao
We have a new chip leader and she goes by the name Percy Yung!
Unbelievably, start-of-day chip leader Lei Gao was one of Yung’s casualties, along with Bin Afiq.
Gao, who had already lost a huge amount of his stack throughout the day, was all in preflop holding Kx-Qx, while Afiq was all in preflop holding 7x-7x. Yung had both players covered holding 5x-5x.
As you could probably guess by now, Yung hit a set and sent two players to the rail.
Gao was officially eliminated in 34th place, while Afiq was out in 35th.
Yung is up to 1.3 million in chips!
6:15pm: Level 20 Begins, Blinds 8,000/16,000, Ante 2,000
6:05pm: Quick Burst of Bust Outs
Two more players have hit the rail in the five minutes since Vivian Im was eliminated. Check out who they were, where they finished and how much cash they received below.

6:00pm: Last Team Pro Down
Vivian Im was the last remaining Team PokerStars Pro here in the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event. However, here run has unfortunately come to an end in 38th place.
Im, who has finished runner-up in this event in the past, was short stacked and all in preflop holding Qx-8x against an opponent’s Tx-2x. Im was looking good until her opponent made two pair and sent Im to the rail with a HK$33,500 score.
5:50pm: Four Down in Five Minutes
We have just lost four players in the space of five minutes, meaning we are down to the final 38. Below are the players who were recently eliminated.

5:40pm: Lacey Up to Average
Lacey Jones has been one of the shortest stacks in the room for much of the early stages of Day 3 of the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event, but now finds her stack nearing the average.
Jones was able to double up holding Aâ™ A♣ against an opponent’s Kx-Tx. The board ran out 5♣ 10â™ 8♦ A♦ Q♣ and Jones was up over 300,000 in chips.
5:30pm: Aussie Teng in Control
Australia’s Victor Teng is currently up to just under 1 million in chips. That amount is good for the chip lead. A huge portion of those chips were recently won when Teng dealt a double elimination.
It was a three-way all in preflop action fest, with Teng having K♠K♥ and having both Hao Tian, with 9♠9♥ and Yuchao Feng, with 6♦ 6♥ , covered.
The board ran out 3♦ 10♥ 2♦ Q♥ 4♦ and just like that Teng had scooped up the massive pot.
Due to chip counts, Tian was deemed to finish in 43rd place and Feng in 44th.
5:20pm: Three More Down, Gao Back Up
Lei Gao has recently eliminated a player and is now once again one of the chip leaders. He dealt the fatal blow to Wenlin Wang in 47th place. Gao is back up to around 800,000.
Meanwhile, Paul Cheng (46th) and Chunson Fan (45th) have also been recently eliminated.
5:10pm: Back to Level 19
The players are back to it.
We are now beginning Level 19, with blinds at 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante.
5:00pm Break it Up
It looks like exactly 46 players have made their way on a 10-minute break.

4:55pm: Lei Gao Loses Chip Lead to Bold
Start-of-day chip leader Lei Gao certainly hasn’t been known for his tight play over the last few days and he recently stayed true to form and this time it didn’t work out.
We arrived at the action on the turn of a K♣ 8♦ 5♣ 7♦ board, with a huge pot already in the middle and with Gao rumbling with Buyanjargal Bold. Gao led out for 172,000 here and Bold thought for quite a while before making the call.
The river was a J♥ and this time Gao said all in. Gao had a monster stack of just over 700,000 in front of him, while Bold would need to call off his 150,000 chips.
Eventually Bold decided to call and Gao reluctantly showed his 9♦ 9♦ , staying quiet as he did so. Then Bold flipped over his A♣ K♦ and gave a more subtle “yes!” than Gao usually gives himself.
Bold is now up over 700,000!
4:50pm: More Gone Before Break
More players have been eliminated before the first break of the day. We are now down to 47 remaining players, with the average stack sitting at just over 315,000. Below are the most recent players to find the rail.

4:45pm: Previous Record Champ Doubles
The winner of the previous largest MPC Red Dragon Main Event, Terry Fan, is amazingly still alive with 50 players remaining here in the new record holding tournament. He defeated a field of 891 players when he won his title, and is now fighting it out with a field of 995 players.
Fan recently doubled up when he got all his chips in on the turn of a A♥ 6♦ 10♠A♠board. Fan was up against one opponent. Fan held A♦ 8♦ , while the other player
held 6â™ 4â™ . Fan was able to dodge a spade on the river and just like that he was up to just over 300,000 in chips.
4:35pm: Team Pro Doubles Up
Team PokerStars Pro Vivian Im has been nursing a short stack for much of the last level or so, but is now much healthier courtesy of a recent double up when she hit a
flush.
Im now has around 250,000 in chips, with the average stack at around 300,000.
4:30pm: Busts, Busts, Busts
The rate of eliminations hasn’t really slowed down too much during this second level of Day 3 of the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event. Below are the most recent players to bust and where they finished.

4:20pm: Jianhong Liu Building a Stack
The average stack is currently around 250,000 in chips and Jianhong Liu has recently taken down some chips to see his stack move to 450,000. The hand started with a player opening to 20,000 from early position. Victor Teng then three-bet to 48,000 from the cut off. Liu was in the big blind and four bet jammed for 400,000 – 300,000 effective, considering Teng’s stack. The original opener went deep into the tank here, eventually folding. Teng took his time as well, but also eventually let his cards go. As Liu scooped up the pot, he showed A♥ K♥ .
While Teng Liu is moving up the chip leader board, players like Rangwei Pei (58th), Si Rui Li (57th) and Agarwal Sahil (56th) have all been eliminated with HK$28,700 for their time.
4:10pm: Fearing the Chip Leader
Players seem to fear chip leader Lei Gao. It’s likely they generally fear his big stack and maybe even his play, but perhaps they just fear getting the famous flamboyant send off if they do bust to him.
Gao recently slammed out a bet of 100,000 on an all-heart flop, with three low cards. His one opponent had a little more than double that amount and went into the tank. Eventually the player folded pocket queens – with the Q♥ – face up.
Gao is still easily the chip leader with around 56 players still alive during this second level of the day.
4:00pm: Level 18 Begins, Blinds 4,000/8,000, Ante 1,000
3:55pm: Notable Ladies Surviving
They may not have massive stacks, but they have chips.
Two of the most notable players in the field at the moment are both ladies. First we have Lacey Jones with around 140,000 in chips and then we have Team PokerStars Pro Vivian Im with around 110,000. The blinds are soon to tick over to 5,000/10,000, so these two will have to get a wriggle on soon.
3:50pm: Cheng Doubles
Paul Cheng has managed to double up through Wei Ming Tseng. Cheng held A♥ J♥ and jammed all in preflop and was called by Tseng, who held K♥ J♥ .
The board ran out J♠J♦ 4♥ 3♠2♣ , with all three jacks for both players and a higher kicker for Cheng meaning he had doubled.
For the first time during Day 3 the eliminations have slowed down as no player has hit the rail in the last five minutes!
3:45pm: Eliminations Continue
The rate of eliminations has been very fast here on Day 3 of the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event. We have now officially lost 18 players in around 45 minutes as 58 total players remain. Below is a list of the latest bust outs!

3:35pm: Richard Deals Double Elimination
Richard Hu has just dealt a double elimination. It was Ning Li out in 70th place and Phachara Wongwichit in 69th. Hu held J♣ J♠and had Li covered holding K♥ 10♠and Wongwichit with 2♦ 2♣ . The board ran out 5♥ 6♠7♦ 3♦ 6♥ and another two players were out.
Meanwhile, just before this double elimination, Aussie Ivan Zalac was sent home in 71st place.
3:25pm: Liang Pan Can’t Survive
Despite recently tripling up, Chun Liang Pan hasn’t been able to run up a stack here on Day 3 of the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event. He was recently all in holding 10â™ 10♦ against Qifeng Duan’s Q♦ Q♣ . Interestingly Duan was the man who Pan tripled through.
The board ran out 7♦ 5♣ K♦ J♦ 8♦ and it was over for Pan in 72nd place.
3:15pm: Another One Gone
Chin Lon Lin has just been eliminated in 73rd place. His last hand saw him holding K♦ J♦ all-in preflop against Chun Liang Pan’s 6♦ 6â™ and Qifeng Duan’s 9♦ 9♣ . Duan had both players covered and when the board ran out 8â™ 6♥ 5♣ 2â™ 8♣ , Lin was eliminated and Pan had tripled up having hit a set.
3:05pm: Four Out in Minutes
It took just a couple of minutes to lose four players here on Day 3 of the MPC Red Dragon Main Event. Below is who the victims were and where they finished.

3:00pm: Rush to Start Day 2
It’s been a bit of a frantic start here on Day 3 of the MPC Red Dagon, but the chip bags are open and the cards are in the air just a minute or so after the scheduled starting time!
The 77 remaining players will kick off the action at Level 17, with blinds at 4,000/8,000 and with a 1,000 ante.
We are thinking today will take somewhere around seven or eight 60-minute levels to make the final table.
MPC20 Day 3 Begins with 77, Will End with 9
It’s not often that the word “penultimate” gets used, but the day before the final table of a poker tournament is as good a time as any, so…
Welcome to the penultimate day of the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event!
When Day 3 begins there will be 77 players at the tables of the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room, but at the end of the day only nine of them will remain. At the moment the players are guaranteed HK$23,900 each, but are eyeing off at least HK$143,000 for making the final table, and of course the HK$2,010,000 first place prize.

At the moment the player in the best position to make it all the way today is a player who has been labelled “Mr. Send Off” for the way he celebrates the eliminations of his opponents. His name is Lei Gao and he is the only player with a stack nearing seven figures.
