8:48pm: Funked Out The action is going faster than we can keep up. Lee Marvin Funk (yes, it’s his real name) just busted out in 35th place. His 8-8 lost to pocket Jacks.

Also, Cesar Mostafa, the pride and joy of Paraguay, is closing in on 420K. He just busted Peru’s William Saba when his A-Q held up against A-J.

8:39pm: A Rowe repeat? Oliver Rowe is no stranger to Punta del Este. He traveled all the way from Canada to Uruguay last year and rode his Day 1 chip lead all the way to the final table, ultimately finishing fifth. He’s back again this season and after this last hand, is a strong contended to be heading there once again.

Rowe and an opponent traded raises on an A♠ Q♣ 6♠ flop until both their stacks were in the middle. Rowe turned up Q♠ 10♠ for middle pair and a flush draw but his opponent was in the lead with A♣ J♦ . Rowe hit his gin card on the turn, the K♠ falling to make him the nut flush. The river was the 7♠ and Rowe earned a hefty double-up to 370,000.

8:38pm: Veronica Dabul eliminated in 38th place I guess we spoke too soon. Veronica Dabul ran her A♦ 10♦ into Humberto Brenes’ A-J. With Dabul’s elimination, Daniela Zapiello is the last woman standing at the LAPT Punta del Este.

8:27pm: Nacho the Bluff Machine Jose “Nacho” Barbero is one of the three Team PokerStars pros remaining in the field (along with Veronica Dabul and Humberto Brenes). Nacho has been relatively quiet the last couple of levels. Well that is, until now. On a board of 7♣ 5â™  4♣ 9â™  , his opponent bet 26K. Nacho did not even blink and re-raised to over 120K. His opponent tanked for a few minutes before he folded pocket eights face up.

Humberto Brenes wandered over to the table and goaded Nacho into showing his cards.

“Show the bluff! Show the bluff!” taunted Humberto.

“I will show it, but you have to promise that you won’t go on tilt,” Nacho said to his opponent.

His opponent agreed to a non-tilt clause, so Nacho tabled A♦ 7♦ . The bluff pleased Humberto. He smiled and returned to his table.

8:20pm: We’re back Cards are back in the air. Blinds are up to 2,500-5,000 with a 500 ante.

7:57pm: Color Up Break Action is paused for fifteen minutes while the staff removes the 100 denomination chips. 41 players remaining with Daniela Zapiello sitting on top of a mountain of chips.

In the meantime, check out the list of money winners.

7:38pm: Michael Brunner eliminated in 46th place Michael Brunner was super short-stacked and shoved from the button with 9♥ 6♦ . Angelo Mancini woke up with Kâ™  K♦ and made the call. “Don’t worry,” assured Mancini, “I always lose with pocket Kings.” Well, unfortunately for Brunner he could not come from behind and stave off elimination. Mancini’s Kings held up and Brunner headed to the rail in 46th place. Brunner had qualified for the LAPT Punta del Este rebuy event on PokerStars. The University of Wisconsin economics student turned $160 into $5,210. Not a bad score for the young American.

7:25pm: Daniela Zapiello bursts the bubble in spectacular fashion Wow. I mean, just… WOW.

In a bubble hand for the ages, chip leader Daniela Zapiello opened for 10,000. A middle position player called and Pedro Komaromi called on the button. All three players checked the A♥ A♣ 7♠ flop. Zapiello led out for 15,000 when the 10♠ hit the turn, the middle position player called and Komaromi raised to 50,000. Zapiello flat-called and the middle position player folded. The river was the 8♥ . Zapiello moved all-in and Komaromi snap-called, turning up pocket tens for tens full of aces.

That’s when Zapiello slapped her Aâ™  8♣ on the felt for aces full of eights.

A dazed Komaromi shuffled out of the room as the bubble boy while Zapiello racked up 505,000 in chips.

7:08pm: Hand-for-hand With 49 players remaining, action is currently hand-for-hand.

7:07pm: Paulo Santiago eliminated Tough break for Paulo Santiago. The Brazilian busted out just before the money bubble. His 10♣ 10♥ lost a race to Oliver Rowe’s A♥ Kâ™  . Rowe flopped an ace and it was all over for Santiago. He busted out in 50th place.

7:00pm: Timely double up for Humberto Brenes Humberto Brenes found himself all in with Q♦ Q♣ against 10â™  10♣ . Both of his sons were standing behind him and sweating the action as the board ran out Aâ™  5♥ A♦ A♥ Kâ™  . Brenes’ Queens held up and he increased his stack to 69K.

6:56pm: Zapiello up to 378K We caught up to this hand on the turn with the board reading 7♣ 4♥ 3♥ J♥ . Daniela De Lima Zapiello led out for 25,000 from the small blind and Ernesto Panno, her opponent on the button, let out a long sigh and looked heavenwards before making the call. The river was the 10♦ and Zapiello checked. Panno launched into another bit of questionable acting, screwing up his face and looking perplexed before betting 60,000, spilling a stack of chips in the process. Zapiello insta-mucked and Panno proudly slapped his 2♥ 7♥ on the table, having turned a flush. Zapiello smiled and hardly bet an eyelash as he began chatting to her in rapid-fire Spanish.

Zapiello is presently on 378,000 in chips and still leads the pack. She also has a pretty cool tattoo.
