Online pro jonasof87 was one of two Norwegians to make the final table of WCOOP Event #9, sharing that distinction with EirikS, who he said was the “only guy I did have trouble with.” When he crippled EirikS after nearly two hours at the final table, the floodgates opened for Jonas, and he ran roughshod over the rest of the final table on his way to victory and the top prize of $95,410.

The WCOOP victory was one of the biggest for the 21-year-old Norwegian, but a final table at an EPT marks the biggest cash for the young pro. Jonas has played on PokerStars for about four years, and names the Sunday Million and the Sunday Warmup on PokerStars as his two favorite regular tournaments. He prefers shorthanded No Limit Hold’em, so the four-handed format of Event #9 fit perfectly with his strengths, as he showed by besting a field of 3,290 entrants.

Jonas picked up the beginnings of his poker knowledge from his dad, who he says “taught me the basics.” He comes from a card-playing family, with his father and brother also playing frequently. “Even my mom has tried a little bit,” he says.

Most of the prize money will go into bankroll, but some will be invested for the future. That future looks bright for the young Norwegian, who recently relocated to Trondheim to pursue an education. His education on the felt has been quick, with an EPT final table and a WCOOP championship in just a few short years playing poker! We certainly look forward to much more success for this WCOOP champion, poker pro jonasof87!
