This week’s Super Tuesday — the weekly $1,050 buy-in no-limit hold’em tourney — saw yet another big field, with the 393 playing this week exactly matching the turnout of one week ago.
That group created a prize pool of $393,000, to be divided by the top 45 finishers. And the winner stood to earn $76,045.50 — exactly the payday McLean “PureProfitFo” Karr earned for taking down last week’s Super Tuesday.
Karr was back again this week to try to make it two in a row, but found his night ending earlier this week with a 194th-place finish.
Meanwhile, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst‘s tourney started much better as she quickly built a stack to move into the top 10 during the early going. Selbst was still on the first page of the leaderboard during the third hour when Tom “kingsofcards” Marchese — like Selbst a North American Poker Tour champion — joined her table.
“Tom you look sad,” typed Selbst in the chatbox at the sight of Marchese’s avatar. “Is there something I can do?”
Marchese assured Selbst he was doing well, even if his avatar suggested otherwise, and the pair went on to discuss their respective Thanksgiving plans.
Selbst was still smiling soon afterwards when she picked up a 20,000-plus chip pot versus gregior when the latter ran K♦ Kâ™ into Selbst’s Aâ™ A♦ . That hand carried Selbst to the top of the counts as the first player to cross the 30,000-chip mark.
Marchese would hang on until about the four-hour mark, at which point his pocket nines failed to hold versus RaineTech’s A♦ K♦ to send him railward in 101st.
With 100 left, Selbst was the last of the remaining representatives of Team PokerStars, with Javier “El_Cañonero” Dominguez of Team Online (210th), Ana Marquez (148th), Matthias “mattidm” de Meulder (145th), and Liv Boeree (109th) all having been eliminated.
Selbst was still in the top 20, and after an hour passed and the field was halved to 50, she was still alive and in the middle of the pack with a slightly-below average stack. By then terrific28 had moved into first with nearly 120,000, followed by bar-bar9999, and OLD TIME GIN.
Soon the cash bubble would burst, with terrific28 still on top. Not too long after that, Selbst shoved all in from the small blind over a button raise by Tomatee, and after some thought Tomatee made the call. Tomattee had Selbst covered, and had the better hand, too, with K♦ Qâ™ versus Selbst’s Kâ™ 9â™ . But the flop brought three spades, and two cards later Selbst had doubled to nearly 100,000.
More big hands soon followed, and with 27 left Selbst had catapulted all of the way into the chip lead with more than 200,000. Not long after that she pushed past the quarter-million chip mark after knocking out lermonad in 24th.
Then, with 18 left, Selbst had a big confrontation with then second-place pyszalek in which she would claim more than half the latter’s stack. Take a look:
That hand pushed Selbst up over 387,000, at the time more than twice that of her nearest challenger. She’d continue to maintain the lead as players hit the rail, including keokiekoekie (18th, $3,930), Debilne_Ucho (17th, $3,930), terrific28 (16th, $3,930), pyszalek (15th, $4,912.50), Sir_Winalot9 (14th, $4,912.50), and The_child2 (13th, $4,912.50).
They’d reached the seven-hour break, and with 12 left Selbst remained the pace-setter with more than 415,000, with mitdadu next with just over 350,000 and d0r1t0s in third with about 233,000.
Over the next half-hour two more fell — bar-bar9999 (12th, $5,895) and Achiles12 (11th, $5,895) — while d0r1t0s snuck in front of Selbst into first. Then EDWARDHOPPER managed to extract a decent chunk from Selbst’s stack in a hand in which he turned a small spade flush and got a call on his river all-in.
That hand sent Selbst back toward the 200,000-chip mark. Shortly thereafter, d0r1t0s sent agovque69 to the rail in 10th ($5,895), making a flush with Aâ™ Qâ™ to outdraw the latter’s pocket deuces.

d0r1t0s had a sizable lead with EDWARDHOPPER having pushed into second place. Meanwhile Selbst had slipped to sixth with nine remaining.
The final nine continued their battle and had nearly reached the eight-hour break when yara777 opened with a minimum-raise to 9,600 from early position. It folded around to Selbst in the small blind who reraised all in for 111,739. EDWARDHOPPER quickly stepped aside from the BB, and yara777 made the call.
Selbst had 9♣ 9♥ , but had run into yara777’s 10♦ 10♣ . The board came K♣ 4♣ 6♥ 3♦ 7â™ , and Selbst’s run had ended in ninth.
About 15 minutes into hour #9 the blinds were 2,800/5,600 when d0r1t0s opened for 11,200 from early position, then mitdadu reraised all in for 103,899 from a couple of seats over. It folded back around and d0r1t0s called, turning over Aâ™ J♦ to mitdadu’s 7♥ 7â™ . The flop and turn were fine for mitdadu, coming 5♥ 3♦ 6♥ 5♣ , but the A♣ fell on the river, sending mitdadu out in eighth.
The blinds increased to 3,200/6,400, and soon Pushok1990 was opening to 12,800 from UTG. It folded to d0r1t0s in the big blind who reraised to 28,655, and Pushok1990 responded with an all-in shove for 186,568 total. d0r1t0s quickly called with his A♣ K♦ , better than Pushok1990’s A♥ J♣ . Five cards later — 5â™ 4â™ 6â™ 4♣ 9♣ — d0r1t0s’ hand remained best and Pushok1990 had been knocked out in seventh.
Five hands later it folded around to Maxacante who open-shoved from the small blind for 103,244 and Finspb812 called from the big blind. Maxacante had A♣ J♥ , but Finspb812 had woken up with A♠Q♦ . The board ran out 10♣ 8♦ 10♦ 2♥ 9♣ , and Maxacante was eliminated in sixth.
Just four hands after that, yara777 opened with a min-raise to 12,800 from UTG+1, then d0r1t0s reraised to 35,450 from the small blind. It folded back to yara777 who pushed for 205,053 total, and d0r1t0s called.

The flop came 8♥ A♦ 3♦ , further securing d0r1t0s’ lead. And after the 10â™ turn and Aâ™ river, yara777 was out and they were down to four.
After that flurry, d0r1t0s had a commanding lead with better than 1.04 million, well ahead of second-place Finspb812 who had just over 433,000. EDWARDHOPPER was next with a little less than 370,000, and leguito fourth with just under 118,000.
d0r1t0s appeared in the driver’s seat, but lost about 225,000 chips to Finspb812 after the latter managed to win an all-in against the leader with K♦ Q♦ versus d0r1t0s’ Aâ™ Kâ™ when the board came 5♦ 9♦ 5♥ Q♣ 4♦ .
Just a few hands later, Finspb812 would double through d0r1t0s once more in a hand in which d0r1t0s turned a straight but Finspb812 rivered a full house. See how the chips managed to go in on the river in that one:
Suddenly d0r1t0s was down under 400,000, and just three hands later was five-bet shoving over EDWARDHOPPER with Q♣ 5♣ , then watching EDWARDHOPPER call with 10♦ 10♠. The community cards came A♥ K♦ 6♥ J♥ 3♦ , and within the space of a few minutes d0r1t0s had slipped to less than 100,000.
Down to just 49,523 a few moments later, d0r1t0s pushed all in from the SB with K♣ J♦ and was called by Finspb812 in the BB with 2♦ 2♣ . The board came A♥ 7♥ Q♥ 9♠8♣ , and d0r1t0s was suddenly ousted in fourth.
The remaining trio would play nearly 20 hands before the next elimination. With the blinds up to 4,000/8,000, leguito opened with a raise to 17,776 from the small blind, then Finspb812 raised to 48,000 from the big blind. leguito pushed all in for 221,703 total, and Finspb812 called.
leguito had Q♥ J♥ , but saw his hearts weren’t good versus Finspb812’s K♥ 3♥ . The board then came 4♣ 5♣ 8♥ 10â™ 6♣ , and after nine hours of play they were down to two.
Heads-up play began with Finspb812 enjoying about a 3-to-1 chip lead with 1.517,026 to EDWARDHOPPER’s 447,974. But EDWARDHOPPER quickly began scraping his way back to close the gap. But Finspb812 held steady and had a slight lead of about 1.04 million to EDWARDHOPPER’s nearly 925,000 when the final hand took place.
With the blinds 4,500/9,000, EDWARDHOPPER raised to 19,350 from the small blind/button and Finspb812 called. The flop came all small cards — 4â™ 2♣ 7â™ — and Finspb812 bet 27,000. EDWARDHOPPER raised to 71,626, Finspb812 made it 243,000, EDWARDHOPPER pushed all in, and Finspb812 called.

Top pair for Finspb812, but the overpair of jacks for EDWARDHOPPER. Then came the turn and river — 8♣ and 4♣ — bringing a backdoor flush and the victory to Finspb812.
