“Korrinho” cool as ice in $2K freezeout, Twitch streamer wins Total KO, and debut wins for Belgium and Vietnam. Here’s all the latest from Day 19 of the PokerStars Blowout Series.
BLOWOUT BULLETIN
“Korrinho” cool as ice: The evening’s biggest prize came in a tournament which began back on Wednesday. The $2,100 NLHE Midweek Freeze (#64-H) reached its conclusion last night with Austria’s “Korrinho” triumphant for $47,469 and their first Blowout Series title. Korrinho defeated a tough final table which included the always red-hot Andras “probirs” Nemeth and Samuel “€urop€an” Vousden, both of whom have already won high roller events in this series.
Bruno “great dant” Volkmann
“great dant” denied second title: Like Nemeth and Vousden, Brazil’s Bruno “great dant” Volkmann also came close to winning his second title of the series last night. He won a $2,100 PKO earlier in the series for $87,189 (including bounties), and last night Volkmann ended up finishing second in the $530 8-Max Hyper-Turbo (#71-H) for $26,308, not bad for just over two hours’ work. It was Canada’s “Thx4urm0n3y” who clinched the victory, however, banking $34,928 as they outlasted the 375-entry field.
Total KO triumph for Twitch streamer: Progressive Total KO events really reward aggression like no other. After all, there’s no regular prize pool to battle over. It’s all about the bounties. Last night’s bounty daddy was Hristivoje “All In PAV” Pavlovic, who dominated the 1,445-strong field in the $215 6-Max Total PKO (#70-H) to win it all for $32,903. For comparison, “Kraskata85” finished second for $13,474. That’s quite a hefty bounty pay jump.
Good morning, Vietnam! (and Belgium): Two countries recorded their first Blowout Series champions last night. “bizool” took down the $22 6-Max Total KO Turbo for $11,676 and Belgium’s first title, while “Value858Vn” showed their mixed-game prowess in the $11 HORSE (#69-L), giving Vietnam their first victory and $3,726 to the champ.
Thursday Thrill concludes tonight: The $1,050 Blowout Series edition of the Thursday Thrill ended with seven players remaining, all of whom will return tonight to battle down to a champ. Poland’s “DrawindDead”–who is still fresh off their fifth-place finish in the $530 Big Blowout for $211K–is the overnight chip leader, while Markku “markovitsus” Koplimaa and the aforementioned Volkmann are both still in contention. There’s $41,736 plus heaps in bounties awaiting the winner.
