The announcement was made in front of a live audience during a special live recording for the 300th episode of the award-winning Poker In The Ears Podcast, which took place at the Hippodrome in London’s Leicester Square.
AN ENDURING IMPACT
At the end of February, Boatman took down the European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris Main Event title for €1,287,000, defeating a 1,747-strong field. At 68, he became the oldest winner in the tour’s illustrious history.Â
But that victory is just the latest honour in Boatman’s distinguished career, which spans more than 30 years. From his beginnings as one-quarter of the original Hendon Mob to becoming a stalwart of early televised poker, few did more to bring European poker to the mainstream in the pre-Moneymaker years.
