Home / Poker / Ballers and Brawlers: New tournament series with $2.5M Gtd comes to PokerStars US (May 12-22)

You’re going to play. That much is certain.

Now the question is: which events are you going to play?

Baller? Or Brawler?

Ballers and Brawlers is a brand new tournament series coming to PokerStars US this month, with $2.5 million guaranteed in prizes across Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and $250K guaranteed in the Main Events alone.

Running from May 12 – 22, 2023, the series brings the familiarity of low, medium and high-tiered events to a 10-day festival of tournaments.

The schedule features Progressive Knockout (PKO) tournaments as well as prestigious high roller events. So, whether you consider yourself a Baller, Brawler, or both – there’s something for everyone.

The opening weekend gets underway in style with the $100K Gtd Baller Special and $40K Gtd Brawler Mini Special. PokerStars US favorite “The Nightly Benjamin” and “The Jackson Jab” have had a B&B makeover as part of the enhanced tournament scheduled.

There are 60 events in total, headlined by the Baller Main Event ($1,000 buy-in) and Brawler Main Event ($100 buy-in). Tournaments are split into two categories: Baller (higher buy-ins) and Brawler (lower buy-ins).

It’s not just no limit hold’em on offer either. Mixed game players can rejoice as there are events in PLO, razz, stud hi/lo, PLO8… there’s even a pot limit badugi event, for crying out loud.

BALLER OR BRAWLER?

Baller noun

[bawl-er, bawl-uh]

A player of a game, especially one with exceptional talent.
Extremely good or impressive in a way that suggests a lavish lifestyle.
Someone who started from the bottom and has made it to the top.

The Baller events are what you might call the High Rollers, with buy-ins ranging from $250 up to $1,000. You’ll need a chunky bankroll in place if you plan to enter all of them directly, but satellites will also be available allowing anyone who wants to play a chance to get in for cheap.

Included in the Baller events is a $100 buy-in Nightly Benjamin with healthy guarantees across the series.

Brawler noun
[braw-ler]

A fighter who depends on ferocity and strength to win fights (often against more than one person).

While open for all, the Brawler events are designed for those with more modest bankrolls.

The dreamers hoping to move up in stakes. The beginners trying to learn the game. The hard workers who only get one night a week to play some cards.

The Brawler buy-ins range from just $10 up to $50, but the events are by no means small. You’ll find juicy guarantees for every event.
