4:33pm: Players on break

4.30pm: Severino v Ivey, part II
After that massive all-in chop earlier (scroll down to 4.15pm), when both had aces, Severino took this one all by himself. He made it 3,600 from the button, and Ivey called from the big blind. On the 5♣ 8♣ Q♣ flop both checked, but on the 2♠turn Ivey made it 6,000. Call. The 2♥ river saw Ivey slow down, but Severino made it 20,000. That was too much for Ivey, who mucked casually.
4.27pm: McEvoy taking it steady
He started with just over 19,000 today, soon made it up to 32,000 and then on to 55,000. But as the end of this level approaches, the Team PokerStars Pro Tom McEvoy has slipped back to around 26,000.
4:25pm: The Dario and Praz show In the darkest and most remote corner of the Imperial Ballroom sits the equivalent of a Miami street fight (one of those things you see on You Tube featuring a younger non-pornographic version of Kimbo Slice). This time, it’s two rather diminutive poker players slapping each other around. Dario Minieri and Praz Bansi have been bashing in each other’s skulls for some time now. The most recent tickle fight came when we picked up the hand on a A♥ 10♦ 7â™ flop. Bansi checked, Minieri bet 11,000 and got the call. The turn was the A♣ . Again, Bashi checked and again Minieri bet. This time it was 27,800. Bashi thought for an age before folding. He’s currently sitting on 120,000. Meanwhile, Minieri is rocking and rolling with 280,000. That table just broke, so…show’s over folks.
4:20pm: Crippled by bullets
“He trapped me,” was Eric Levesque’s explanation for what happened to his chips. A raise and a call to him and he decided to push with–well, what does it really matter. The caller in the middle was slow-playing aces and snapped Levesque right off. The LAPT final tablist barely has enough to pay his blinds. If you don’t hear about him again here, you know why.
“Not the best time to make a move,” he said with a shrug
4.17pm: Mr Smith goes home
Jeffrey Smith opened for 4,000 and Florian Langmann re-raised to 10,700. All in from Smith and a call from Langmann who turned over A♦ Q♣ to Smith 10♥ 10♠. The board was good to Langmann: 6♠A♠4♠7♦ J♥ . Langmann up to 190,000. Smith is gone.
4.15pm: Great fold, Ivey chops
Here’s an interesting hand, not least because Phil Ivey was heavily involved. Daniel Burcatovsky opened for 13,300, but Jose Severino looked interested – so much so that he re-raised to 28,000. Now it moves around to Ivey, who wastes no time in pushing all in for more than 90,000.
Back to Burcatovsky, who mucks, although he looks mighty reluctant. Severino, however, announces: “Call”. He has a similar stack to Ivey and one of them would double to a lofty new height.

The board kept everyone’s interest, however. The flop was 3♥ 7â™ 5â™ , but the turn came another spade, 4â™ , bringing oohs from the crowded rail as Severino now had an unlikely flush possibility. But the 7♥ river put an end to it, and he and Ivey chopped. Ivey, in his usual manner, did not show the slightest emotion throughout.
Meanwhile remember Burcatovsky’s fold? He allowed his cards to be retrieved from the muck…. Kâ™ K♦ . Great fold, sir.
4.05pm: Horecki eliminated
The members of Team PokerStars Pro are doing a fine job this week of updating us on media row of their progress – as per a recent request. We’re especially grateful because it often means an additional few paces on the worst walk in poker: the slow crawl to the rail. Marcin Horecki was the latest to inform us of his own demise. He “four bet with jacks, was called by pocket fours, and the board came 10-4-2”. Ouch.
4pm: Bentley still at it
Torsten Haase has just felt what it’s like to play against the day one chip leader Wayne Bentley. By the time the river was out the board read 2♥ Kâ™ 9â™ 7♥ 8♥ and Bentley bet 40,000, which Haase called. Bentley showed J♥ Q♥ for a runner-runner flush and the look on Haase’s face suggested he was mucking a hand that had been better until the final card.
3.50pm: Boeken busts
Noah Boeken is out. He was up to 80,000 but then ran kings into aces, which crippled him, before A♥ 8♦ turned out to be insufficient to beat the J♠J♥ of Bryce Yockey.
3.40pm: Show me the money
Payouts for the main event have just landed on our desk. Although the first prize is less than last year it’s owing to a flatter payout structure. Check out the details for yourself on the tournament payout page but they’ll be 224 players paid, ranging from $15,000 for first out to $2.2 million for the winner.
3.30pm: Champ out
Peter Eastgate is out. He shoved for 25,000 with [a][j] and was called by the big blind holding [k][j]. The king his the river and that’s that for the former World Champion.
3.25pm: Ta-ta Katja Thater
Katja Thater opened for 4,000, getting called by Dean Hamrick for a flop of J♣ 2♣ Q♥ . Thater then made it 9,500 to play. Hamrick thought for a while before raising a chunk more. He’d asked how much Thater had left (around 40,000). Thater immediately moved all-in and Hamrick called, showing 5♣ 6♣ to Thater’s A♦ Aâ™ . The turn card 3♥ left Thater in the lead but the river card 9♣ sent her to the rail.
3.20pm: Vanessa Rousso and the sealions
It’s not all hard work for the players here at Atlantis. Some lucky PokerStars qualifiers were given the chance to go and play with the sealions, hosted by Team Pro Vanessa Rousso. Here’s how the fun session shaped up…

3:15pm: Two-chip ante time!
For the first time since level 6 when the antes were 50, players are required to put in two chips per ante. That may not seem all that exciting in light of all the other action, but we get pretty excited about ante changes. We’re now at 800-1,600-200.
